| ragger7 | 10-20-2014 09:12 PM | Amazon Tax Id Good aftenoon,
I first wanted to say thank you for all of the information this website has provided for me. It has given me hope that i can get back on Amazon again.
I have just one quick question.
Amazon has asked for my Tax id info. How long do i have to submit this info before my account gets banned. I am in the process of getting a DBA and either a LLC or Sole Proprietor.
Hope to hear from someone soon, Thank you |
| ovidiu | 10-20-2014 09:34 PM | Re: Amazon Tax Id Depends on how much you sell, if not much, could go on for a couple months. |
| MICKY H | 10-20-2014 11:43 PM | Re: Amazon Tax Id The small problem you may have here, as I understand you have your amazon account already, and now you are setting up a company to validate that account. I don't know how close amazon look at dates but you may have problems. |
| imboxsy | 10-21-2014 12:45 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id i went to create a stealth amazon today, and i couldn't even finish the registration process without it. Waiting for the LLC to finish processing so i can get the EIN.
Anyone else experience this too? |
| ovidiu | 10-21-2014 01:07 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id Did you set up a professional seller account, imboxsy? They ask for that info up front if you pick professional option.
Micky,
my Amazon account was created long before the tax ID was set up. Not a problem. If Amazon is looking that closely at the details of your company I would say that you've probably done more than meriting a mere suspension. |
| imboxsy | 10-21-2014 01:34 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id Yeah i did. Is that a mistake? I will be getting a EIN anyway, but will they ask me any other additional info that will hinder the stealth process because i did so? |
| ovidiu | 10-21-2014 02:11 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id Not sure, but you will not be able to finish anything till you get that info. My advice, given to me from Amazon, is to use a new email and register for a personal account. Why add EIN before you have to? Add it once you have feedback and you know the account has survived Amazon's holiday purge. |

Amazon look at all the details, this guy is setting up an account, then going set up a company after the account is opened. |
| ovidiu | 10-21-2014 04:46 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id I didn't mean you specifically, just meant in general. If he sets up a pro account and then tries to set up the business/llc afterwards, it will obviously fail since Amazon will get the no-go back from the IRS.
Best bet is set up a personal account, work out llc in the meantime, wait till holiday over to input tax info. It is perfectly all right to do what he is asking since Amazon does not dig deeply enough to find out when your company was started. This is exactly what I did, btw, and been going for 2 years now. |

Re: Amazon Tax Id Welcome to the forums OP - best of luck with the approach |
| ovidiu | 10-21-2014 05:07 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id There is nothing illegal or shifty about setting up a corporation or LLC after starting a Amazon account. Maybe he was starting out small, didn't know about the tax info requirement until Amazon hit him with it or he talked to his accountant. Looking up and verifying every detail of a LLC is a manual process and not one that Amazon can automate (I have run searches on LLC's here in WA state). So they are not poring over all the details as you fear. |

| ragger7 | 10-21-2014 09:56 AM | Re: Amazon Tax Id I open my account as a individual. But i was forced to go with the professional since you cannot change the shipping charges on individual.
Once i switched to professional I was never asked for that tax info and made 17 sales so far. |
| ovidiu | 10-21-2014 01:54 PM | Re: Amazon Tax Id Yes, ragger7, THAT is the loophole. Opening as individual and switching to pro still lets you put in tax info when it's required, not up front like if you start out as pro. Yes, but he can only sell 50 units before the interview process. No much stuffing in his Christmas Turkey
He needs to create more stealth accounts unless he's willing to risk a LLC and EIN on this Amazon account. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:21 PM. | |
