Hi all,

ive received this email via Amazon, ive taken off the brand name, i buy this from a genuine source outside EU....should i just tell amazon?.... what do you guys think will happen?

any thoughts?

this was the message amazon sent onto me supposedly from brand cops. also on the message also the letter from the actual brand,giving brand cops authorization to check into sellers it belives are not authentic. interestingly, the letter from the brand to Brand cops, started as "to whom this may concern, not "Brand Cops" and it was not on Company letter headed paper...

Sounds like a competitor. They would contact ebay or amazon (Whatever platform) to tell THEM (the platform) to remove it. They want to do the following

A) scare you out of a sale
B) Send in your 'product' and sources so they can sell it themselves while bullying you out of a niche.

Tell them to send you a notorized letter from an attorney so your attorney can sue them for fraud. Will eliminate them rather quickly :)

I've spoken to Amazon reps regarding similar threats that I received on Amazon. The reps told me that if the brand/company wants to stop anyone from selling, they will contact Amazon and not the seller directly. Amazon will then take action. Its a common strategy used by competitors to scare off others. I wouldn't be too concerned.

The people who contacted me wanted me to send them my invoices and my authorisation letter; probably to make duplicates for themselves. I responded and asked them for a contact person and number from the actual company and contacted the actual company too, turned out that the whole thing was an attempt to scare me off from amazon.

Brand Cops is a proper firm and you can check their LinkedIn page as well. Small company who are being hired by brands like Samsung, etc. To look out that their niche market items are not being sold by anyone other than proper distributors or resellers.

In my case, they provided proper details and even company email address. Anyone has any other information whether they were able to take down the listings on Amazon or not?

Something tells me Samsung is not going to hire guys like these or some "small company".. as far as i know most big brands have their own legal departments..

Thank you for the feedback. We had not ignored them and put our listings down thinking they would report us to Amazon and then Amazon will put our account under review or anything. Did you not get any listings removed after they had contacted you?

They doesn't look legit and professional in the letter. But my Amazon account selling Samsung products was taken down not long after they started to contact me. Another account of mine selling Samsung received the same communication from them. So I concluded they does represent Samsung unfortuantely

No, they do not leave you alone if you don't reply. General feeling these days is that they are ruthless trademark enforcement agents.
