Do I need a new LLC or S-Corp with EIN to get back on Amazon?
 

May Amazon account was recently suspended. I can appeal it, and probably will, but want to get going on another account because it may be easier to start from scratch.

Yes, I made some mistakes and have fixed the issues. I am just wondering the best approach to get back on.

Seems like starting a new business may work best.

well, when you get to 50 items, you are required to add tax info, so take that as your answer.

Keep in mind, everything new. New address, new name, cc, bank account, phone number, and best if in an entirely new area.

for most of us tax info means EIN especially if we already used an SS....

What am I missing or what is your question?

You don't need an EIN to start with, but you WILL need one after you sell your first 50 items. That is when they will ask you for a tax-id number. The GOOD NEWS is, by the time you hit 50 sales, you pretty much know that the account will last, assuming you abide by Amazon's rules and give good customer service.

Whether to start an S-Corp or an LLC depends on your personal situation. Most people go with an LLC because the paperwork and hassles are much less than with an S-Corp. But I would check with a tax professional just to make sure you are choosing the right one. They do cost a couple hundred dollars, but they can save you THOUSANDS in taxes, so I always thought of it as worthwhile.

Also, DO NOT ABANDON YOUR ACCOUNT! APPEAL! You have NOTHING TO LOSE BY TRYING! If they refuse, then, oh well, at least you tried. They will want you to write a business plan to show how you are going to deal with whatever issues, but it does not have to be very involved or complicated. Just come up with fixes to the issues and put them on paper. Unless you were suspended because they suspected you were selling counterfeits, or were extremely rude to a customer, you should be able to get back on easily enough.

I am guessing I can probably get back on, but it seems like they kind of limit your account exposure and don't give you opportunities to get the buy box because of the low DSRs, so I figured getting back on may not be the best to get some sales going right away.

However, I figured it might be worth getting a stealth account going in the mean time and then work on the appeal and once the DSRs start to roll off, that would help.

A new account has very little visibility until you get feedback and you will go through a velocity review if you get several sales right away of any significant amount of money.

I had an account go into review this weekend for two sales at $120.00 each.
