weird message from seller
 

got a message from another UK seller, to paraphrase says - I only sell this line, it is my only income and every time I match price, you lower again, it is race to the bottom. You have other lines, at least leave some crumbs for others.....

What???!!

actually, I hardly ever run through inventory to price match/lower, but I did recently and I did all my prods and not just this line obviously....

I checked their shop and right now they are selling 2 items only, so unless they removed everything, I estimate they are making about £30 a week!!

If you want to remove your competition, PMing them and whining is the most useless idea ever. It seems that guy is in real despair. But... business is business.

Business is business end of story. You price at what you want to price at. Shame there are some people that are whiners and don't actually understand......happens in all markets :lol: :juggle:

Maybe the seller has several accounts, and use a small account to scare you.....my 2 cents

they are probably trying to trap you into communicating then trigger the amazon bots for sellers who conspire to fix prices which I'm sure you know is a big no no on amazon

As someone who has been there I'd put the price back up unless you really need that £30. Sure business is business and you're not a charity but for that much money I wouldn't lose any sleep over losing it and this guy might be in real financial trouble.

Plus as someone has already mentioned desperate people do desperate things. Again having been in this situation I'd have taken your account down within the week. Business is business right.

I get where he's coming from. Not that I agree with begging, but if everyone prices high, then everyone get's bigger profit....

Sometimes a good idea to work with other eBay sellers to get the higher pricing and everyone is a winner.

The truth is that Id rather have someone begging me to raise my price, rather than having someone use some lowlife tactic to try to get my account suspended.

That seller should look into getting better pricing for their products so that they can compete with other sellers more effectively rather than begging the competition.

Well I sell only FBA and with most sellers who sell FBA there seems to be a hidden rule, just match prices, cos with FBA you get the buy box 99 times out of 100 and the buy box rotates amongst the sellers. So you are maintaining a good price and still getting good sales. If not everyone goes cheaper, you all still get the buy box and make half the cash.

Exactly..You have to protect your business, get this guy out of the way or if he isn't doing any volume then just block him because it was just become a bigger distraction day in and day out. I got into with a few people on there lately myself customers though irrational ones.

There are auto-repricing tools out there and they work pretty good.

I price only up to my margin % manually, I do not see the point of silly prices just because someone else wants to lose money or make 5%, well they can keep those types of sales......

I went back to those few products that he wanted for himself and matched the price rather than being the lowest, so we are equal on those products, thats fair haha, anyway I am watching if this seller goes below this price now.......not sure I care anyway.....just thought it was weird request given I could report them, risky.....

Well I would rather make 5% on stock that I hold rather than nothing. If you are not in the top 3 sellers you will sell virtually zero. If the number one seller has high feedback then he is the only one going sell the goods unless its amazon with the buy box or another FBA seller.
