hi i have been selling for about 3 or so weeks and have reached around 6000 in sales. today i recieved the message below and my listings have been suspended

Thank you for registering for your Selling on Amazon payment account.

Unfortunately, your selling activity on Amazon does not fit our criteria for the ‘Individual’ Seller Category.

In order to proceed with your registration, we must therefore ask that you update your Seller Category to ‘Business (incl. Partnerships)’ or 'UK Sole Proprietor'.

For technical reasons, it is not currently possible for you to edit this information in Seller Central. We have transferred your account to our engineers who will enable the 'Edit' function within the next 48 hours.

After 48 hours of receipt of this e-mail, we therefore kindly request that you amend your Seller Category as outlined above - if after 48 hours this option is still not available, please let us know. Some requests may be processed in 24 hours.

i wish to ask firstly is it normal for listngs to be suspended when they ask for this information and secondly how long do they usually take to reply and finally how long do they usually take to process the documents.

24 hours for docs - updating the info usually quickly and you need to provide the docs within 30 days

He'll be asked for a UTR once upgraded to Sole Proprietor, whether that be now or in 5 days or 5 weeks time - it's inevitable

ive tried putting random UTR once and they didnt really check it i dont think?

I have a business registered on this name, so will be going for business rather than uk sole. Only issue i think i may have is that the account no is my own so bank statement documents

They havw suspended my selling until they do this is this also normal?

This is normal, once they establish you are not an individual seller, there meaning of this is a private seller who sells very small amounts.

You will have to update the info in seller central, as you say you have a limited company this is usually easier as they want the company info and no HMCE info, companies address can be got from companies house online, they will accept this.. They will ask for the directors proof of ID, address and passport.

The whole process usually takes about 7 days. Bank address can be easily changed on statements with a little imagination.

Just one thing, once you register as a limited company on amazon your trading address is displayed on amazon, this is a problem for some people especially if working from home. There are many services you can use for a registered office.

Thanks for info. The address i registered with and the business address are different is that ok? Can i change the address?

Yes you can change the address. Just change the address to the companies registered office as this is what amazon will require. They will more than likely send you an e mail asking you to confirm your trading address. This request will not come through seller central so just check your e mails.

ive just got the exact same hting happened to me, will they ask for a UTR number? If you are operating more than one amazon acc, how are you meant to get around the UTR number?

blawal187 - I am confused, in recent posts you are asking all sorts of questions as to how you should be setting up these accounts. You are opting for the more complicated option of the two by choosing a business.

Don't forget if you have registered the Amazon account in a stealth name, the business you have registered with companies house will be in your real name and they CAN check if the names match. Memorandum docs will be asked for as well at some point along with ID etc as Micky has stated.

Why you wouldn't just keep it simple and go down the Sole Proprietor route, especially when a lot of your questions you have asked seem very very messy.

They will ask for a UTR document to be uploaded. They do not verify the information with HMRC.

As this guy is Spanish they will not ask for a UTR number, this is only for UK business

yes i am using a UK accc, however i do have a acc registered in Spain for amazon aswell, i guess they wont be asking for UTR for that one?

UK is the most difficult regarding HMRC. The other regions seem happy just with ID's etc.
