Hi I am wondering if there are any tips/suggestions for the new Amazon Handmade section they are rolling out. People are saying the TOU's are really scary because they can steal your designs and manufacture them. I am curious what the forum members here think about it. I am considering doing it but have never done amazon.
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
Someone on another forum supposedly had a lawyer look at the TOUS for the handmade section and that is what the jargon means. I don't really think they would bother doing something like that. I was just curious if anyone has any thoughts on it or about the Handmade section in general

I would stick with Etsy for handmade goods....Amazon doesn't hide the fact that they "steal" business from third party sellers. Several large brick and mortar stores, such as Macy's, used to sell on Amazon, but stopped after Amazon started purchasing from their suppliers and selling the same items.
Example:
Quote:
seller Jeff Peterson of sports merchandise company Collectible Supplies, Inc., was selling up to 100 "Pillow Pets" (modeled after NFL mascots) a day at $29.99, until Amazon itself began offering the pillow pets for the same price but with the featured placement known as the "buy box." Peterson said he kept lowering his price, but Amazon "would always match my price or go lower until I eventually gave up" and set it at the manufacturer's suggested price. Currently Amazon was selling a Baltimore Ravens Pet for $12 with free shipping, according to the Journal, but Peterson has bumped his price up again to $29.99.
