"You are not approved to list products with this brand"

Help me understand this...
I was selling an item and it went inactive(not yellow,no warnings etc).

Emailed Amazon and this is what they said:
"
Greetings,

I am soumitra from ungaiting team. Thank you for writing to us.

I understand that your listing for ASIN:xxx are showing as Inactive in your Inventory when you try to list this item. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you in this matter. Please allow me to assist you with it.

I investigated on the ASIN:xxxx and I found that you are not approved to sell this product on Amazon. Kindly allow me to explain you the reason behind it.

You are not approved to list this product because the manufacturer contacted us and approved only a set of sellers to sell this product on Amazon. This restriction is imposed by the manufacturer, not by Amazon and Amazon has no contribution in approving or restricting the sellers. This is generally done by the manufacturer so that no counterfeit or duplicate products are sold on their name; so they limit the number of sellers.

However, if you are an authorized seller or distributor of the product; I would request you to write back to us with a proof which justifies that you are authorized to sell this product on Amazon."

I've tried listing under similar ASINS but they come back saying I am not approved to sell this brand.

If I am understanding this right, it just seems like the manufacturer contacted Amazon and said only xxxx can sell our products, is that right? It does not seem like they complained directly about me since I did not get a warning?

Its not necessarily a bad thing?

bottom line you aren't allowed to sell that product, move on.

Only harm done was that amazon specifically looked into your account.. obviously you didn't trip anything up because you are still in good standing.

I'd say nothing to worry about... but DONT sell that brand anymore.

That's the key takeaway here.

Did you get the warning instantly after listing? I got nearly same message after one of the sellers reported me...

It's ironic, since Amazon contradicts itself by clearly saying that they do NOT follow such restriction guidelines from manufacturers.

Are you an authorised seller/distributor, if so you have no problem, send the information to show this. If you are not, then tough.

The problem is many distributors are protecting their licences / markets with the influx of grey imports, which may be genuine stock but not licensed for the US.

Can anyone just do a test to see if they can add B00XFA546M? Or pick anything from "Cellucor".

I am just wondering if it is my account or systemwide. I see alot of "new" sellers selling this brand...

Thinking of making a second account to sell this if its not blocked completely...

Make a new account. Never hurts to have backups anyway. Always worth the investment.
