Debit Cards not working anymore?
 

I input my debit card information from a real BOA account, it is saying:

The credit card information registered to your seller account is invalid. You will have limited access to your seller account until you provide valid credit card information. Learn more about credit card requirements for your seller account.

To work, a debit card must be registered at your stealth address. Two solutions. Have your bank add the stealth address to the card as a shipping address, or buy a VCC and add that.

You need to have matching billing information with your bank/credit card. The details have to match your stealth account information, like jeffweico just said.

Specifically, the NUMBERS in your address and ZIP Code have to match. Or, you have to have a VCC that returns a match code without it actually matching and that is very rare. That applies to both credit AND debit cards. Amazon no longer accepts gift cards for seller registration.

I just got the "can't use prepaid card" notice today.
So the address has to match the stealth address? But a secondary address on the card will work?
What about the name, if it is registered to a banned company?

I have been using the same VCC :humble:card for years until today....
Amazon no longer accepts gift cards???. WTF???

Can anyone shed some light on this?

They are cracking down on prepaid cards. Been posting a few questions today to find out the needed info to move forward. So far a debit card registered to company and company address should work. Will post more as soon as I hear back from others.

The credit card that you registered your Seller Account with is a prepaid credit card. Amz0n does not accept alternative forms of payment such as prepaid credit cards, and therefore payments to you will be suspended until your credit card information is updated.
**So a real debit (not credit) card that matches your stealth info will pass? Or, is it required to be a credit card (not debit)?

Some people have had issues with debit cards, but Amazon DOES accept them. But they no longer accept gift cards. The NAME on the card does not matter because that is never verified.

And to the person who asked about Amazon no longer accepting gift cards, this started a few months back. At first it applied only to new accounts, but now they are going back and starting to refuse disbursements to those who have had a gift card on file.

There are sellers here who have VCC's for sale that work with Amazon, or you could call your bank and ask them to add the stealth information as a secondary address for shipping. Most banks are fine with this, but there are some who will not do it. You would have to call and ask about it.

Awesome info Jeff.
Just wondering if the primary address on the card is a banned address, but the secondary address is the stealth (clean acct), if this would be a problem. Also, if the debit card is NOT for the actual registered bank account but another account that is banned.
It is a weird "international" setup with M and T bank. They won't issue CC's for international customers any more.
Thanks again for the update. It solves our future issue with our Canada accounts; and what to do moving forward for new accounts.

No, it shouldn't be. The AVS system does not give out cardholder information, they just confirm that the address matches what is input.

got the "can't use prepaid card" notice today as well. I tried using a normal VCC that i used to register my account and it doesnt work. Also tried to use Payoneer debit card info and that also doesnt work.

How can i get this to work? Do i have to buy a AVS VCC? Much guidance needed

jeffweico might be able to answer this best. I just looked at our account with the update CC page staring at me.
If we use a clean credit card and input the correct billing address info (which is different than the business address) would this work as the AVS would be checking the inputted address against the card?
Does AZ go 1 step further and check the billing address to your business address? IMO I think it would be overkill. As long as all info is clean I think it may work.

There are some sellers who have VCC's that still work for Amazon. Most VCC's and prepaid cards have been banned. You can buy one of those and add it, or you can ask your bank to add the stealth address as a secondary address to your bank card. Some banks will and some banks will not.

But Payoneer, Vanilla Visa, and all of those other prepaid cards no longer work with Amazon.

I don't know the answer to this. But if you use an address that has been previously burned with Amazon, then I would think the account will go down in flames.

Amazon is VERY SERIOUS about weeding out all of the stealth accounts, anyone selling counterfeit merchandise, etc. Sellers have been getting banned left and right. It is a bloodbath on Amazon right now.

They always tighten up right before the Christmas season, but I think this is something different. I can't PROVE it, but my gut tells me this credit card crackdown is permanent and might even get worse.

Still waiting to hear back from bank about a couple of things (international can suck at times). I'm thinking my idea might just work, but only once. When you add a new billing address, it will then become a permanent part of your selling information and record.

Ive heard from a couple people that amazon charges 10.01 to see if its a legit card. Ive always used a card with 10 dollars on it. Gonna get a pre paid visa with 15 dollars on it.

I know amazon likes cards that have revolving credit on it. Such as a reloadable card. Different than a normal pre paid card. Once you get your permanent card, you can log on and change the address used. Thats one work around.

DEBIT Cards of the big known banks - works always - just make sure the zip code matches the zip code registered to the card.

Jeffweico, do you know (or could you know) if Amazon uses a verification system other than AVS, or in conjunction with AVS? Are there any other verification systems out there, in particular ones that could provide cardholder information?

I've gotten two of these today. One I was able to just use the same card and it took it. The other one I had to use a different pre-paid card.

Sounds like a **** storm is coming. Quite a few posts today about this. They must have inputted some more pre-paid prefixes into their database.

Just called the bank to get real debit cards for every bank account. Should be fun. They already think I'm nuts at the bank.

Regarding debit cards the zip code and house number have to match.

Just find another street in your zip code area and add you house number to the street.

Enter this info in amazon and your debit card will be verified.

Do you mean I can enter an address just for card verification, different than the registered address for the Amazon account? Won't this trigger a suspension or something?

I have a real debit card, and changed the address to my stealth address for my bank today, about an hour ago in fact, however my debit card is still not being accepted by Amazon. Any ideas? I was told at the bank that the address change would take affect immediately.

This happened to me when I tried to have disbursement done right away. Checked off wait until next deposit period and it was good. Then made a small test purchase sent to my "new" address. It worked and then my deposit a week later worked.

Et.SY question....If you use #### (your house number) and a different street, what happens if someone wants to return something, should I get a PO BOX and input that for shipping labels and will that send any red flags because the return address will be different than the street for the debit card?

using a real credit card from my country
with different address from my stealth Account
with that this address in england

Just use a PO Box, however if you have very few returns just let the customer keep it, if a low cost item. Thats what I do anyway.

Ok, just so I understand...say my real address is 123 John St., 98021. This is the same address information my bank has, as well as the credit card from my bank. When I input the information for amazon of my credit card, I can say my address is 123 Mary St., 98021? As long as the house number and zip are the same?

The truth is that only certain cards work, yes a physical will work but it has to match the name, the street numbers of the address (preferably the entire street address), the zip code, etc. And it must has a balance of at least $1.99 for card verification purposes. Now there is only one VCC card that will work in current times, there may be more but most of us have yet to discover it and that VCC is the Citi Bank VCC which is AVS. I'm sure there are some sellers on here that knows this and profit from it. With the AVS virtual credit card the name, address, and zip code doesn't even matter with Amazon. I used multiple amounts on them and I can just make up an address on the spot and amazon will accept it nice and smoothly.
