Amazon Tracking MAC Address
 

Ok, i have heard so many different opinions on Amazons ability to track and link accounts using the MAC addresses of the computer and router/modem. Does anyone know from experience if this is true or not? Has anyone not changed their MAC addresses and still successfully created and sustained an account? All help is appreciated.

Amazon can't track MAC address, they would need to install an application or some browser addon to do this.

Two more questions, opening a new user account on my computer is sufficient just like with ebay right? or should i completely wipe my computer or buy a cheap new one?

Also, the book says to make the llc a variation of my name, i however have an uncommon last name. should i still proceed this way? or make a business name?
when i did this with ebay i made a new business name and am still going strong. I'm not sure if amazon will be the same case?

New user account is fine.

You can use any name you wish.

im in a different school of thought and dont recommend new user account. too much hassle and i dont think its as safe as using vmare.

Why is it to mush hassle, I run several accounts on one MAC and its dead simple and very secure.

im using windows, and you have to log in and log out everytime to switch users?

Not exactly hassle. To me that makes it more secure and less chances of making mistakes as you actually have to log into the amazon account you want to access.

well im using vmare and loading the system on each account is much faster for me compared to switching users.

well then, lets accepts our differences i suppose? :)

They can't see your MAC.

They can EASILY see your...

IP (Including subnet and particular ISP)
Browser's User Agent
Cookies
Flash cookies
Your internal network topology via javascript's webRTC (They can see your LAN ip as well as other devices' LAN ips on the local network, like printers, scanners, other laptops, etc.)

With a little work, they can also see (Via flash):

All the files/folders on your computer.

Moral of the story, to be on the safe side, disable everything (flash,webrtc,etc.), use a different browser (or different user agent) and install a new operating system (Via vmware) for every user.
