UTR Amazon Need some advice.

Recently I have almost given up with eBay.
Won't go into it with eBay, just the headaches of eBay defects, policy etc etc.

I did use Amazon but never to the full extend. Here and there, eBay was always my main selling platform.

In August I went full time on Amazon.
It's a great platform. Took me by suprise, doing better than eBay.

This account is real.
The address on the file was my old address.

Amazon wanted passport and address info.
Passport no problems.
Bank statement is on the new address but can change it to the old address since the property was mine but sold to a family member.

The issue is UTR number
Amazon wants to change my account into business.
I thought "individual" was a business account, that's changed to private.

To get a UTR number what do I have to do?

If I get a UTR number, does Amazon see what's address it is register to?
Don't want to use my new address since I do remember my sister had issues with Amazon.
I don't want to risk that.

Do I get register HMRC self employed. Would that give me a UTR?
Can I apply it it online?

I have been searching online but can't seem to find the right direction.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: UTR Amazon Need some advice.

If you are self employed or a limited company you get a UTR. If this is your main business and you pay tax you should have a UTR already. Amazon don't see the address.

Yes amazon have changed the status of Individual, basically its a non professional seller.

If I remember correctly there is a drop down for "sole trader" status.

However if you buy a "limited company" all amazon require then is details of the company, Certificate of Incorp, M&A etc which which you get when you set up your £39.00 company. To me this is the easiest.

UTR - Unique Tax Payer Reference - you get one of these as a Sole Trader for each Sole Trader company you run. They cannot verify this number with HMRC.
