Change IP In Virtual Box

I'm trying out Virtual Box. Is it possible to change the public ip for my virtual machine so that is does not match the host computer ip address?

I am not a super expert but since Virtual machine is part of your PC, IP address is the same.

I guess you need to have a VPN or VPS to do so.

It's called installing VPN on your VM.

You need to use a VPN or a separate internet connection for that account. Or do it the complicated way - reset the modem/ router each time and spoof the mac address of the router to get a new IP for the VM.

Check the marketplace here, you can get a very good VPN from here - 24Vc..

OK, so Im setting up multiple accounts on VM, Ive got a lot of vpns through 24vc. Yeah, I read the book. A couple questions for clarity:

-is it possible that multiple 24vc vpns are hosted on the same cloud server, and if so wont they have the same mac address? Anyone know a way to check?

-Do I need to spook my mac address on the VM, or the underlying computer?

Create a separate VM for each of your stealth accounts. Then configure the VM so it can only connect to a single VPN connection. That way you have a dedicated IP for each account, with zero chance of any info being leaked between accounts.

I don't know what you mean by the cloud server question, but I've never had any problems with 24vc. I have 8 dedicated IP's from them (each is configured with it's own stealth account and VM), and other than the connection dropping sometimes if you aren't actively using it, they work great. I feel really secure using their service. None of the IP's I have from them are anywhere close to each other. Some are Class A, some are Class B, and some are Class C. I'm not sure how they go about getting their IP's, but they say they get them straight from RIPE (whatever that is).

If you are using VMs and VPNs you do not need to spook (or do anything else with) your MAC address. You wouldn't want to scare it. Messing with the MAC address is simply another method to change your IP address. But you won't need to worry about that if you're using VPNs.

Linux, various flavors for various accounts, data files are on USB, so depending on where I am the actual VM may be running on windows or linux.

On a side note, you guys running windows VMs, do you have to buy a new license for EACH one?

you can also use your tethering wifi of your phone as hotspot if you never used it for your previous banned account.
also you can buy a dongle and manage several account with only one because the ip change each time you turn it off.
I think it's much more cheapen than renting an IP monthly and it works very well

@phaz0rz
Thanks for the reply, a few notes:

-yeah, 24vc is great, but heres what I meant by the cloud issue: If amazon is reading your router (or in this case your vpn's router's) mac, then there could be a concern if multiple IP's are served from the same server, or even multiple servers behind the same router. Im not sure where the bare-metal metaphor breaks down with cloud stuff, but if you had a physical server running your VPN you may actually have it service LOTS of vpns, or a cluster of them, all in the same rack, and all connected to the same router (which would present the same mac address for them all)

-As to our computer's (vm's) mac, the ghost book actually specified mac addresses as a separate issue to IP addresses, it only mentioned that if you change your mac at the router you will be assigned a new IP by your ISP, killing 2 birds with one stone. Has the need to spoof a mac address changed since publication? If not, Im wondering if it needs to be done within, or outside of, the VM. I dont see how having a VPN would change your need to spoof your computer's (vm's) mac address.
