Amazon US - new note on bank account sign up
 

I went to sign up my Amazon US bank account information...and it said something that I had not noted before...

There was a note where you put the name of your account...and it said that the name you punch in MUST be the same as the name on your account.

That has never been the case before.

Anyone note this?

Is this going to be a problem?

Just put the Amazon account name in there. They changed it recently

But what if your Amazon account name does not match the name on your bank account...?

That is what it says...that the two MUST match.

Does that mean they are going to start kicking back deposits unless those two things match?

That wouldn't be good.

As we all know, they always tell you it HAS to match, the same with PayPal but payments still go through.

No they won't kick back deposits. Just make sure your bank allows mismatch name deposits.

It is matter of the bank allow mismatch name or not, not with Amazon

Yeah even paypal has said the same thing for years as long as your bank accepts mismatch names you'll be fine

Amazon can say whatever they like, but they cannot change the way banks operate.

Yep,
Its just a scare tactic. Its up to your bank, not Amazon. Some banks will reject mismatch names but thats up to you to get a working one.

I asked my branch manager who is at a small regional bank. She advised me that its up to the bank how they want to handle that passed data.

She advised me that they don't even evaluate the name on the account that gets passed to them - all they care about is that the account number and routing number are accurate.
