New Metrics

Hopefully everyone is aware that starting in January Amazon will no longer combine seller fulfilled and FBA orders when calculating ODR They will be separate. I was selling a lot of small items on FBA to keep my ODR down. I'm scrambling to sell as much as I can seller fulfilled even if I lose money on the order. It looks like in January my ODR will be slightly over 1 percent long term. I have never went over 1 percent ODR before. Does Amazon automatically suspend your account as soon as you go over 1 percent long term? I would hope that Amazon realizes that there are many seller accounts that will go over when they make the switch and give a little leeway for awhile, but that's probably not going to happen.

Basically, if you cannot give the service amazon require then you will be dust. If you have stocks, why cannot you ship the the same day and keep your metrics perfect. This will be the end of of a lot people getting orders, then ordering from their supplier then shipping to the end user. All I cam say is good news.

Service has nothing to do with it. Some sellers like myself are good almost perfect sellers and all it takes is one idiot customer.

Combined metrics I can handle just about any idiot customer I can get but come Jan since my FBM orders are slim all its going to take is one idiot customer to make my numbers go over.

I think I have had two A-Z this year......
1)customer wanted to return opened software - Customer stated he did not like the software and I refused the return stating opened software can not be returned. I won the case.

2) customer said he returned something that I never got. I asked for a tracking number and he said he mailed it using stamps so did not have one....I also won that case.

Amazon should not count a-z won cases as a defect if they are going to do this.

I personally really hope this gets rid of some idiot sellers but for the small good sellers this is going to hurt them.

I have never done FBA(will in January) and have no defect issues per say unless I drop ship.
Almost no reason to be dangerously high% if you have good items and ship quickly IMO.

Exactly yankee, I would say almost 100% of people are happy if there goods come quick and are as described. ODR drops with late shipping, poor quality goods and the occasional idiot.

Unless you sell electronics you have no idea what kind of return rates you get and reasons...

Its one thing to sell a toy....almost no returns and as you said if you ship the item ontime then you will have no problems. guaranteed.

Sell electronics/computer accessories/software and you will have many more issues.

Some cats are more high risk then others.

absolutely!

For a very long time I had a rule to never sell something that takes a battery or plugs in for this very reason. Mostly, dealing with the buyers/warranties/manufacturers is not worth the hassle fo many of the items.
