Bank Address Different to Amazon Address
 

Hi, have had a look through all the threads and do not seem to be able to find an answer to my question.

Im currently in the process of setting up my new Stealth Amazon Business account as a Sole trader.

Ive entered all details that I have, however when I get to the charge method, it keeps flagging up invalid with this message

'The credit card information in your seller account is invalid. You must update your existing credit card information or add a new credit card to regain full access to your account. Please check that your credit card is not expired, has adequate credit available, and is chargeable in the currency (GBP) of Amazon.co.uk Pre-paid cards are not acceptable. '

This is a brand new account that i have opened, registered to my address, not the Stealth address. I have been advised that Amazon do not check bank addresses, but am unsure as to what address to put in the verification details. If i put the stealth address it wont correspond with the bank address, but if i put the address the account is registered to wont it link to the previously suspended account?

Or do i need to change the bank address to the same as the Amazon address?

Can anyone shed some light please?

All UK prepaid cards and VCC's have now been blocked.

Yes they do check the bank address, they do a full AVS check on the card to match the address on Amazon. Unless you find a prepaid / gift card that bypasses the AVS & that works on Amazon the address needs to match.

I personally think their system is having an issue. Even if you link a bank debit card in the same REAL address as you input onto Amazon most are failing. That's not because of a partial mismatch of details either, these are high street bank cards that are failing their system.

I think their system has some errors which need fixing. It's been raised :)

its not a pre paid card or vcc its a debit card connected to the bank account, do you think the best way is to change the address on the bank account to the Sole trader address registered with Amazon?

No, this is what I am saying. Even BANK DEBIT CARDS are failing even when they match 100% to the Amazon address.....I think their system has a lot of problems at the moment.

What bank is the debit card issued from? is it a VISA / Mastercard DEBIT or a SOLO / Electron card?

Hi Dawn,

Firstly there are no issues with amazon's AVS system as thousands of buyers would be complaining.

Amazon will do an AVS check which they will check the house number and the post code. From experience as the charge is only £1 it will register on a partial match.

You need to contact the bank and get the statement address amended to your stealth address as amazon will do a test charge just before every disbursement. However if this is a problem as its only a random address, an address of a friend etc will do and enter this address as the card holders.

Ok cool, so log if i log on to the online banking and change the address, it should go through?

Micky - there is definately an issue with their AVS system.

I have setup about 5 accounts all with different debit / credit cards with all the details the same. It charges the card £1 and shows on the statement but still comes up on Amazon with the invalid credit / debit card message. (NOTE: these are bank issued debit / credit cards)

If there was no issue with this then it would work and the error message wouldn't appear.

vertus, maybe your have having a problem for some reason.

If there was a major error at amazon with there AVS then this forum would be full posters saying the same.

People are being feed inaccurate info.

People claim to be in the know and that is not the case.

Not just amazon but ebay/paypal too.

Well if he cannot work out how to pass AVS check with a regular debit/credit card then he is lacking in something.

Ok, have now changed the address on the bank account to the 'stealth' address, just refreshed the amazon screen and still getting the same message? Any ideas?

about half hour, the bank said it would update immediately, and ive checked the online banking and it has updated the details

I would still wait more than 30 mins .. It might not have fully changed over.

Like with some savings accounts you apply for online give you the details straight away but actually take 24+ hours to set up.

What type of bank are you adding? Are you sure you have enough funds in them to authorise the card?

Its a natwest debit card, there are no funds in the account as yet as its a brand new account

Well you need at least a £1 in the account for the card to be authorised.
Most places do this. Its to check the card etc exist.

No money in the card means amazon(or whoever) cannot check this and it will keep failing.

It will be pre-authorized on your account but will time out in about 5 days and the funds returned to you.

No they only do a name and address check against the card.

Just make sure you understand the risks your taking by changing your address with the bank
