Can Amazon link you by EAN/UPC Number?
When listing a new (currently unlisted on Amazon) item, you need a UPC code - or several other options.
Now although each UPC code is fundamentally unique in total, certain numbers within the code are identical e.g. The 'certified manufacturers identification code'.
Does it follow in that case that theoretically Amazon (or anyone looking at a EAN/UPC) can identify a previously banned/suspended account if a new stealth account is using EAN/UPC codes with the same 'certified manufacturers identification code'?
Or am i just being overly paranoid :confused:

UPC/EAN Number Background For Anyone Unfamiliar
EAN was originally “European Article Number,” but has now been renamed the
“International Article Number” even though the abbreviation EAN has been retained.
E.G For this code 0723905100018
EAN number is 13 digits
0 The first digit – was originally the country code of the origin of the number (not the product,) but to keep the code to 13 digits it has been replaced with a “0”
7 The second digit – is the type of product. Most products start with a 0,6 or 7; drugs and pharmaceuticals start with a 3; grocery produce starts with a 2; and manufacturers coupons start with a 5.
23905 – the next 5 digits are the certified manufacturers identification code.
10001 – the next 5 digits are the product number.
Using the example above, the next product UPCs to be issued would be 10002, then
10003.
8 – the last digit is a check digit to make certain all of the other digits are correct and it varies depending on the EAN number.
