book delivered, but buyer wins A-Z claim saying not received?

So I sold and shipped a text book about $100. Buyer said he never received. I told buyer to ask neighbors and roommates and she said noone seen the book.

Amazon told me I did my part in shipping it out and it's delivered so I will win A-Z claim. But I lost claim and the A-Z claim worker said delivery confirmation only shows zip code and I needed signature confirmation.

I called Amazon again and they told me to appeal claim and signature confirmation is not required. And I can't do insurance claim as post office said it was delivered.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I know on ebay, they assume seller did right thing by shipping, assume buyer isn't lying about receiving and assume post office delivered...so they let seller keep money and refund buyer with ebay money. But doesn't seem like that's the case with Amazon when I heard they had better customer service?

It really sucks, have had this happen to me as well. Multiple times where I ended up reshipping another and probably giving the buyer a free item. Now basically anything I sell on eBay or PayPal that totals close about $85+ I pay the extra $2.40 for signature confirmation.

As a seller I tend to think the buyer is always out to scam me. That is why I take such necessary precautions.

if you have proof of dispatch from post office and tracking says delivered from the same royal mail dispatch office that is local to the buyer you should win any appeal

Go to www.usps.com and file a claim even you didn't buy insurance. They will follow up with you. Also get the buyer contact information and included in the claim. Told the buyer that you file a claim with post office and they will investigate it.

If the buyer didn't receive the package, she/he have no problem to provide their contact information like phone number
If the buyer is a scammer, she/he may got cold feet and said she/he found the package

Also, google the address to see if it is the house or apartment and how many people staying there

Something very few people realize is that the US Postal Inspectors are not just blue collared geeks who sit at desks....they are actually a POLICE FORCE, yes, an ARMED POLICE FORCE. They are actually considered the oldest law enforcement in America, dating back to colonial times!

If you let the buyer know you're going to file a complaint/start an investigation with the US Postal Inspection Service, I bet the package will mysteriously get "found". ;)
