Network adapter question

Hello,

which option we need to select in VM?

1. Bridged
2. Host-Only
3. Custom?

I have noticed the default I kept Host-only. For some reason the internet stopped working after few days. When I changed to Bridged it started working again.

Changing these setting can create issues?

I use bridged on all of my VM's, but NAT would work just as well. This setting changes how the VM connects to your local network not the internet. The only difference between the two is the IP address you will have on your local intranet. With bridged the VM will have a different local IP, with NAT the VM will share the host computer's local IP. For example if you used NAT and your host PC's local IP is 192.168.0.1, the VM will have a local IP of 192.168.0.1 also. If you used bridged and your host PC's local IP is 192.168.0.1, you VM's local IP would be something different (most likely 192.168.0.2).

You can use either of the two. Just remember that your local IP IS NOT the same as your public IP. Even if you used bridged and gave your VM a new local IP, it would still share the public IP of the host computer. So, you would still need to take care of changing your IP regardless of which option your choose.

IT HAS SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND NETWORKING 3 AREAS. I am in software :). The question I asked was for networking which itself requires years to gain the knowledge. You can ask me anything in programming :). This shows that you are not from IT 4 sure :)
