VPN disconnected!!

I used the method where I set up the L2TP VPN on my Windows 7 on a Vmware and that worked as it changed my IP to the VPN. However something really bad happened. After leaving my Vmware idle in the background for awhile, and doing other activity on my main desktop. I returned to the Vmware and it started to lag bad and it was just a black screen, but eventually it came on again. And when I went to my Amazon page, I noticed I was online but had a feeling to check my ip. I did and it appeared the L2TP had disconnected and so my connection was through my regular IP! I closed my windows immediately after finding this out.

Is there a way to make my VMWARE have no connection at all to the internet if the L2TP disconnects itself for some reason? This makes me really concerned to think that my L2TP can disconnect in cases where I leave it idle and it lags or some other issue. I'm not sure if Amazon has logged my regular home IP address with my business account now. Fortunately, this ip is not blacklisted but it is being used by my roommate who also sells on Amazon which has me worried that our accounts are linked. (My old account and his account were banned together for linkage along time ago). So I am very concerned now.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Productions

GtPro's suggestion is best. In the thread he linked to, 123 gives a link to a tutorial which allows you to configure windows firewall to block any non-VPN traffic.

Have you multiple amazon accounts. If not why are you VMware, why not just connect using your VPN with a new user account on the PC. Far simpler.

Regarding amazon catching you new IP, if you did not change screen your IP would not have been logged. However I believe amazon only log your IP address when you log on, why would they log every users IP when changing page. Useless data.

Web servers see the IP they're using with every page, because they have to encode the networking packets with that IP address to get the information on your browser.

A standard web server that is configured to make even basic logs will record the IP used for each page, image, script, etc, loaded.

Amazon doesn't use standard web servers, so who knows if they're reducing storage space cost by just tying an IP to a session at login, but I'd really doubt it.

I'd count on Amazon logging the IP that loads everything.
