gah! my buy box

someone else has grabbed my buy box.

overnight I got no sales, literally down on my bestselling line, from 20 orders a day to a couple a week - loosing £100s a week in sales.....

I checked and alot of my prices are lower, I made sure they are all lower, makes no difference. all lower by a few pennies at least....

what I do not understand is why so few sales, dont people compare prices?

they are a newer seller than me, they came out of nowhere, not seen them before, with half the feedback, they have 100% feedback and mine is 95%.

can anyone shed light on it?

do they rotate buy box

will I get it back.

what are the criteria!!!!!!!

Are you using FBA?

Re: gah! my buy box

no not fba....but I dont think the competition is either

Re: gah! my buy box

The have been numerous of post on Amazon forum.

Some sellers are having issues with sales.
I can have 100 sales on one item in 2 days with a buy box and the next day zero sales.

Weird.

That's why I have taken the decision to go win FBA.

does it change if you go fba?

I cannot go with fba, it would not work for me

Re: gah! my buy box

FBA would give you a Buy Box regardless of your prices. You can even set up a higher price than other sellers. (Merchant Fulfilled).
Also with FBA would give more exposure to your listings.

I do think that these slow sales are a hidden agenda. To push sellers to FBA.

FBA fees are slightly higher than Merchant Fulfilled but if you have done enough research and get your prices right. You would end up with the good profit margin.

I am giving a FBA a go.
Not to deal with customer service, delivery, packaging etc etc is a huge win win situation for me.

Sending in my first box this week.

As said FBA you get the buy box, and if you get your pricing formula correct you can even beat amazon to the buy box. (not Japn though)

You can see if you competition is selling FBA, it say!!!

And yes they rotate the buy box

This is not true. If you have your item prices at £14 and someone with hundreds of thousands of feedback comes in and sells it at £8 the chances are they are taking the buy box regardless if youre using FBA.

Trust me it happened to me a few month back and it was Chinese sellers, who you cant compete with im afraid.

I still use FBA though, 3-4 accs all in the one listing meaning im more than likely taking the sale :cheer:

Re: gah! my buy box

your feedback is playing a huge role in that. even I would buy from 100% before i buy from 95% over a few pennies. Now a few dollars ill take my chances with 95%. Personally as a shopper I stay away from anything below 97% unless its FBA if I have to...

the competition is not FBA

I cannot do FBA, it is complicated, I dropship from a salon I have made an association/deal with, it only works out financially for both of us that way and is also to do with staying just within MOQ so as not to hold too much stock for both of us...

yes I agree about the feedback - why do blackhat thoughts keep popping in to my head? it would be wrong, but yet sooo right................

a rotation has to happen, or I may as well not bother ....

Re: gah! my buy box

this is interesting then, usually when two non fba sellers sells an item at same price then they rotate after each sale or something like that. but keep in mind amazon have made a lot of changes lately to their system and perhaps this is one of them...

how much lower lower are you than this other seller? usually a few pennies won't do it really try a dollar or so if you have the margins to play with.

Re: gah! my buy box

1-2p less always gets me the buy box if theres no fba seller and my feedback is 93% so no idea.

Know you said you don't want to use FBA but you could price a lot higher and still get all the sales if you did

Re: gah! my buy box

FBA won the buy box ? not always the case.
amazon seems changed their policies and the cheaper one will win.

Re: gah! my buy box

I changed the listings to 50p-£1 less, no real change.

it is so bad, eg. 10 sales a week, down from maybe 100 on this main brand!!!!

my freelancer packed and posted them, so she is out 50% of her pay, as she is just on eb stuff now...shes not too pleased!! plus it jeopardises supply chain now, as the orders were based on a group buy discount with me and a salon owner........

I do other goods on az, but maybe only get handful of sales a week from those anyway...

Ive actually switched off my pro selling - back to individual, as not even worth the fee.

btw does pro or individual make any difference? I am pretty sure I have had buybox before in the past even on individual?

Re: gah! my buy box

I've noticed that the main thing that matters, is search position. Price is the second factor, and if your item is 2-3 positions lower, than another, which is a bit more expensive - they will still buy the expensive one.
