Amazon UK Setup Using MC Debt Card

Can you use a bank debt card to open an Amazon UK account? I thought I read you can and after trying to open a stealth account, it continues to say the charge method is invalid.

I have contacted my bank(in US) and they have confirmed that the card is able to be charged in GBP currency. If this does not work is there any other option besides opening up another credit card?

UK debit card, yes.
USA, not sure. i personaly think USA debit card should not be working for UK.
