How to decrease Order Defect Rate (ODR)%
 

Any suggestions on how to decrease ODR without simply "selling more"? It seems like a self perpetuating cycle: ODR goes above 1%, you lose buy box. You lose buy box, you make less sales. You make less sales, ODR% goes up.

The only way your percentages go down is to sell more or to wait until the defects fall all your seller dashboard.

Another way is to remove the negative feedback buy contacting the customer or asking the seller support (if the feedback is not legit), but it is very hard to do.

Very hard? In amazon it is piece of cake...believe it or not last month i got them to remove all my negs in my amazon history because most were more like product reviews...to my surprise they even removed 2 feedback about late delivery and even non delivery...my feedback jumped from 94 to 100% in 5 min...good bye getting feedback removed easy like this in ebay...having said that easiness of feedback removal is the only more seller friendly feature in amazon than ebay...for all the rest i am finding myself bending backwards much more often in amazon than ebay

It is only easy when the feedback violate Amazon's policy, like it is product review ...etc... With this kind of feedback, it can be removed just by opening the case, I believe everyone will try to do it when they received that feedback within 1 hour. However I am talking about the feedback which is written to complain about the seller when the customer is in bad mood, like "poor customer service, never buy from him again", with this kind of feedback, it is very hard to get it removed.

Buy a lot of small inexpensive items that aren't likely to be defective. Even if you take a loss on the items, its worth keeping your ODR down
