Amazon (UK) fresh start possible after this happens?

Hi there guys, I was wondering if the UK based amazon specialists can help me out here. So I was selling on amazon for 2-3 years, when I started my business I was pretty much a full time stoner so I didn't get around to registering the business with the IRS (edit: I mean HMRC), after selling for about a year I wanted to make everything 100% legit, as in register & get a tax n.o etc, but I felt that I had left it too long, so time went on, sales/feedback/performance was perfect, then towards the end of last year, amazon requested the tax info which I obviously didn't have, so I had to abandon my poor account :(

Did someone say a stitch in time saves nine? :/

Now I'm wondering if it's worth trying to register with HMRC, then getting in touch with amazon to see if they will re-open my account, it only got suspended because I couldn't provide them with tax info. Or shall I try opening a brand new account maybe? ANY help would be much appreciated, my thoughts seem to be looping & bring me back to the same place (square one) and I'm now mentally exhausted. Many thanks. Chico

Do you maybe mean HMRC? The IRS is a US thing.

Dude, this is basic stuff. You lost a perfectly good Amazon account for no reason.

You will get into all sorts of problems if you don't declare your earnings.

did you actually did not provide anything? you can discuss this with an accountant but im pretty sure its quite simple. im not sure how big your account is, but if its less than £30k per annum, i dont think it would be that much.

what do you think? and whats your sales like?

Email amazon first. Explain those special circumstances which stopped your supplying the info.;). Let them know you are ready with the info now. ...if they say OK, you are good to go. If they say no, then you know the other option.
BUT it means you have not wasted info ;)

;)

Re: Amazon (UK) fresh start possible after this happens?

Thanks for replies, it means a lot because my brain is not functioning to well.

Freakzilla - Yeah I was aware that I needed to go legit but because I didn't register with the HMRC within the first year or so, I buried my head in the sand & crossed my fingers, it wasn't worth it though because I knew it could all come crumbling down so there was no security.

Ok I've just logged into my account, what they're asking for is my tax info, specifically the UTR number, they sent an email saying my selling activity is too much for 'individual' so I must upgrade to business/sole proprietor, it also say's that the engineers will enable me to update, but I will have 48 hours to do so. My brother was keeping on top of my sales here in the UK at the time whilst I was in Asia, my bro usually overthinks things/worries too much, so I told him to do whatever needs to be done, just do his best, but he said I've been suspended because tax info is required (which I couldn't provide), so within a month or so my travels came to an abrupt end & I returned to the UK to bury my head in the sand....again.

I've hit the stage now where I don't care about the HMRC questioning me/looking into business, I want to face my problems head on & put them behind me so I can start fresh, I want to be legit & have no clouds hanging over me & I'm willing to do whatever I need to do. Would you guys suggest registering with HMRC & then trying to re-open the amazon account? Many thanks again. Chico :)

Sorry Greenbean, I didn't see your reply when I typed that, good to see you're still around :) so you recommend emailing amazon to say I'm ready to provide the info they need even though I don't currently have it? or were you under the impression that I now have the UTR number & was trying to reopen the amazon? yeah I don't currently have the tax info/haven't registered with HMRC, I'm willing/want to do this though, even if I can't re-open my amazon account, it will be worth me going legit for peace of mind. But I had in mind, registering with HMRC first, then emailing amazon with a juicy story as to why I've only now been in touch. I have nothing to lose & everything to gain, so it's worth a shot, I was just wondering if I'm going about it the right way because my foggy brain doesn't seem to be making the best decisions ;) I shouldn't joke about this but if I don't laugh then I will only cry. Many thanks. Chico

Good to touch base with you too, chico'. :yar:

Tell 'em you are raring to go.... If they agree, then go. If they do not, then your info not wasted. All in the preparing .

Also worth getting backup accounts going in case...

Re: Amazon (UK) fresh start possible after this happens?

Thanks for all the advice guys :) I woke up today with less brain fog so I'm gonna email amazon & explain that personal problems have debilitated me from being able to comply with the info they required up until this point, but I've now picked myself back up & ready to begin where I left off ;) it's definitely worth a shot because at this point I have nothing to lose.

Real quick question though, so hypothetically lets say amazon DO accept my reasoning for the delayed info, I will still need the UTR documents they require to become a business account, last time they made my account editable for only 48 hours where I could change to business account/supply UTR. I still haven't registered with HMRC so I don't currently have a UTR numer & I heard it takes a while to obtain, so is it possible to give them ANY UTR number? my friend for instance has a recent letter which I could certainly make look like MY letter with a few swift changes ;) would this be acceptable or is this strategy called "playing with fire"? if I COULD do this, then I would of course be sure to register with HMRC & get my own legit UTR number ASAP & do things the correct way. This is my last potential hurdle....in my mind at least. Thanks again for all the help. It's greatly appreciated :) with gratitude. Chico

If you're using real details, just do it all legit, and then create other accounts bro.
