Amazon shipping..

hi guys,

Umm.. I have a product I need to ship on monday (yah know because of amazon's get it out on in 2 days policy! (even though they tell the customer it's 4-10 days :( ) Problem is I won't be home till thursday.. possibly.. meaning it ships thursday.. maybe even friday.

So I wanted to know what you can do?

I know you can buy a label on monday.. even say it's shipped on monday.. but you don't hand it off to fedex or ups till wednesday.. but does amazon then use the computer automation.. to know when the day you actually shipped by the tracking #??

Do I just tell the customer I'm having issues.. and give him a chance to cancel.. in case he's one of those that gets pissed about shipping?

If I were you, to avoid screwing up my account, I would try order it from a Prime member? and have it delivered wherever you are right now. Then ship it out from where ever you are. So you should get item lets say Monday, ship it out same day or Tuesday.

This may not be ideal, but at least customer is happy.

Simple.

Confirm Order > Mark as dispatched (do not add tracking number)

Ship on Thursday. That way not to get hit with "Late Dispatch" on your metrics.

I used to do this for a while for a very few items that I was really unable to ship within the 1-2 days default handling time...until one day amazon send me a warning email not to do it...i believe they started checking the tracking in detail at some point last year...it might be ok doing this a one time off though just dont make it a habit

You'll get hit on invalid tracking rate though

hmm.. I don't seem to know how to execute this command.. can you say at what screen..? cause I don't see it.. it's tuesday now and err.. supposed to have shipped yesterday and have inputted nothing.. so not sure what to do? just take a late shipment metric hit and be done with it?

Big mistake. It should have been shipped on Monday with a valid tracking number. It is now late and it will impact your metrics. Confirming the shipment without a tracking doesn't help since tracking is now required for all shipments. Lesson learned.

Not only that but even if you enter the tracking they check if the date you entered matches the real online info

In future use the method I described above. Obviously it needs to be a prime item. I think I was the only person to suggest something that would have kept all your metrics intact YAY!

I think that I don't know how to do that method yet.. still need the steps :P I am not good with the amazon menu's yet.. if I was I wouldn't have to ask how to get a negative feedback retracted.. cause amazon's menu's system are pretty good.. (if you can find e'm)

My solution was simple. Since you away from your inventory, buy the stock direct from a competitor using prime and have it sent to your buyer.

yah that solution does make sense.. but then I wouldn't have earned any money.. since this was a low quantity item.. it was better to have waited.. so I could get paid :)

Also I listed this item very specifically with details.. so a substitute.. might have just made it all worse :FF:

Solution was more on generic terms where item could be sent using the prime method. Of course if item is hand crafted etc., unlikely you'll find someone else selling it.

Money vs Metrics. Any sane seller on this forum will side with the latter (in situations like these).
