Registered agent vs my name for LLC info
 

I am getting ready to register an LLC and EIN for a stealth account I have. I asked some questions to a local registered agent, and apparently "Nevada is not a private state and will require names of all members."

So my name can still be found on the states website when looking up the LLC. This is the whole reason to get a registered agent to keep my name and address out of public view. Does Amazon look this info up when verifying? It really only takes 15 seconds to lookup an LLC number on a state website. Is there any reason I should be worried about my name? I do have a suspended account in my name. Do I use a different variation of my name? Ex: John vs Johnathan, etc.

Amazon will only confirm the EIN # matches the company name you provided the IRS when you registered the EIN #.

If you're worried about displaying your name on the state filling. Other states don't require their members to be listed.

New Mexico for example allows complete anonymous LLC registration

If they suspect linking of course they would look at something so easy to find

Just so you know, anyone can find the owners, members or shareholders of any company if they want to.

Amazon does not and will not look into these things.

Yes, but it takes a lot more work to find the information if you have a registered agent. Are you guys saying a registered agent is not necessary?

We can say for sure that Amazon doesn't look at this when they suspect linking. Why not take the extra step to protect yourself

We can say this. If amazon suspects, they suspend or delete. They dont mess around.

I would bet less than .5% of the members on this forum that even use EINs have registered agents and the one who do, don't do it because of fear of amazon.

Just doesn't make sense to take a chance to save $99 a year on your business

Chance of what? In all reality, it is a one minute search if you use an agent or not.
If your agent is telling you differently, then you are being lied to.

Also, You can not be linked by name so who even cares what names are on the LLC/corp? A shareholder can not link an account. How many shareholders does best buy have and do you think any of them possibly are banned from Amazon? How about Target? Under Armour? etc....

Just something to think about.

All sorts of reasons to use agents, but no of them are amazon/paypal specific.

Of course you can be linked by the by the same name.

It may take a few clicks to see who the owner of the company is, but I'm assuming if you use a registered agent, it would take more research to find the owner of the company

No and no.

I guess you do not know what a registered agent is or what the intended purpose is. A registered agent is NOT an owner or liable at all in any way.

You certainly are not the only person with your name.
All of my accounts are in my real name....

I now what registered agent is

If they search on the state database it will show the registered agent name, not the owner of the company. If there is some other database that is easy for them to find out I dont know, do you?

They do in the Uk

They look up directors and shareholders and link this way..

What state?

Every state is slightly different and all but WY are very easy to find and still WY is easy as well unless you have very old bearer shares.

Well, let's hope Amazon never looks at this information or starts asking for driver's license like they do in the UK. That freaks me out
