Amazon Credit Card does it need to match?

Amazon is asking for a debit/credit information since the card that was used to open the account has expired. My question is does the address and zip code on the card need to match the address and zip on the amazon account?

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If you can match the details you'll have a higher chance of it working

My understanding is that for a credit card it doesnt need to match...
But for a debit it might be necessary

What makes you say that? (aside from the obvious, one is debit, other is credit)

Wrong?
It worked for me
I have business account with real uk address in amazon uk
I use thai credit card with thai billing address and completely mismatched name...It works fine...
In amazon us same same...thai credit card and amazon account on a different address
If this is REAL credit card there should be no problem at all

Your two users from two different continents. Both your arguments may be valid. Thai may not do extensive checks. UK might.

Thai bank issued card would work fine as it would bypass AVS check.

Exactly! - whereas UK banks make use of AVS and other security factors.

Bypass AVS check you mean then I can enter any thai address?
This I have never tried
I was thinking that street number and zip code must still match with what is in the billing address in order for the credit card to work

AVS checks all the numerical aspects of an address. If no AVS checks are carried out, or your bank doesn't support it, then of course, you can enter any address.

Similar to how entropay works (in terms of VCC).

But doesnt amazon always check AVS details (zip, street number or both)?
So if the bank wouldnt support AVS or the details dont match the card would be simply rejected?
I am dying to try one my thai credit cards with any address and see if it works
Oh well have to wait for my next stealth account.

Amazon do request it when doing their checks, if bank doesnt provide it amazon just lets you through the net anyway.

HOWEVER, an account which passes such checks stands A LOT stronger, than an account that fails/comes back as not checked.
