Brexit & Amazon UK

Could the upcoming brexit affect the way that amazon UK works especially on the verification part? Lets keep in mind that amazon Uk implemented seller verification because of an EU directive. Also could a brexit affect the way amazon uk interacts in the unified amazon marketplace? I guess that no one here knows the future but feel free to speculate :cheer: :d

Only time will tell. If I had to guess, not much will change

Amazon introduced verification for their own ends, it has nothing whatsoever to do with EU directives that, in my humble opinion, was simply a red herring, they have always had their own agenda and always suit themselves. Also consider that verification is across all amazon platforms now, not just EU countries.

No other big e-commerce platform makes you jump the kind of hoops they do or at least in the same way, and where you are asked for verification on other platforms the process usually takes minutes and hours, rather than weeks and months as is the case with amazon. The systems they now employ for verification are overly rigid, punitive and in a lot of cases irrelevant asking for information that doesn't apply, certainly in the UK anyway, where they are basing verification based on american laws that aren't relevant here.

Amazon will not be changing any process unless it suits amazon to do so, so I wouldn't hold my breath, they generally create their own laws wherever they go anyway just look at how little tax they pay everywhere :)

verification is now across all amazon platforms? This is new to me...any links to forums or other that show that amazon com has started verification in the same rigid and strict way as in the amazon european marketplaces?

Otherwise i agree that amazon has taken verification to new heights compared to other platforms like ebay...but i am selling in all 3 ebay marketplaces com, uk and de and i noticed that for a business account, uk and de are displaying publicly my business information in every listing as opposed to ebay com where business info is invisible and can only be seen in paypal statements...this is only an EU thing...to hell with the EU lol

Re: Brexit & Amazon UK

i don't worry about policy changes, what i am worry about is the pound sterling going down to hell.
i can still see many sellers sell their products for a mini profit, for the rate now, onsidering the return rate, they will have no profit at all ( unless they do some dirty things).
the lucky thing is i exchanged all pounds the day before UK leave, so i have one or two weeks to reconsider what i can sell and what i can not. about 50% of my products lists will be cut due to exchange rate and under my hunble knowledge, once profit is less than 8%, the product won't be worthy of being traded.
the following couple of months will be hard time for many sellers, but i believe for a longer term, UK market is still the best in EU.
