tried to open new bank acc and the didn't allowed..
 

Hi, I was trying to open a new bank acc in Natwest. Lady asked me if I have a bank acc somewhere else and I didn't wanted to lie so I told them I'm still with Barclays but I don't like them... She told me that I cant open a new account while I'm still with barclays.. ( I really like barclays and I'm not going to leave them) . Maybe i should lie to them that I don't have any bank accounts anywhere? What you guys can suggest? Thanks..

You can bank with more than one chain, so ive no idea ehy the lady told you that.

Try opening them online instead. Takes about 15 minutes to fill in the application. And it tells you whether you are accepted or not right away.

Aslong as your credit score is not terrible you should be accepted.

That sounds like a nonsensical statement from her part. A credit check carried out by a bank should be able to give that information away, so I doubt you'd be able to hide it from them.

I have bank accounts with nearly all major banks in the UK, no issue whatsoever.

She was no doubt trying to force you to switch your Barclays account to Natwest. They are heavily incentivized to open "active" banking accounts and will try any trick to convince you to switch your account and transfer your direct debits, standing orders and salary payments. Advisors who open accounts without a switcher attached are usually questioned, that's why they wont want to do it.

As Just Smile advised open online instead. Very simply process and none of that cross selling bull that you have to put up with in person.

Word of warning...

Do not go on a spree of making new bank accounts. Be careful about the number you make.
