Re: is it true that amazon control quantity of the accounts

In the US, Amazon frequently denies selling privileges to people who want to sell. You sign up and start listing your items. Then, your account is reviewed by their in house team which decides if you can stay on Amazon or not. If yes, then nothing will happen, you will not even know your account was reviewed. If not, then you will receive an email stating that they are sorry, but you will not be allowed to sell on Amazon and not to call or email them because they will not discuss how they review new accounts. If you signed up for the professional selling plan for $40 per month, your money will be refunded.

Amazon also bans sellers who have been online for weeks, months, or even years. Reasons include poor customer service, poor shipping times, listing items in the wrong category to get around category restrictions, selling counterfeit merchandise, etc. Being rude to a customer or an Amazon employee will also do it. Amazon is all about the customer experience and if you cannot handle yourself in a professional manner, you are history.

Amazon is more difficult to stay on than eBay. eBay will give you warnings about not selling counterfeits, Amazon will simply ban you. eBay uses old school methods to review their sellers, things like public record databases and IP location checks. Amazon uses newer technology such as browser fingerprinting to identify sellers with multiple accounts. Amazon is often more profitable to sell on than eBay is.

There was a recent expose of counterfeit items being manufactured in China and sold on Amazon. That may have something to do with the accounts being put on hold, or whatever the case is. From what you have said, it is hard to know what the issue is. But Amazon CAN control the number of sellers if they want to. Amazon WANTS the profits from marketplace sellers, but it does not want to be known as knockoff central.

I am not saying that YOU are selling counterfeits, you are most likely an honest seller. But even honest sellers have to pay the price for the bad sellers these days. It is not fair, but it IS reality.

It can happen in any country where Amazon does business. I do not think they are discriminating against the Chinese. Amazon has invested a lot of money in the last couple of years to recruit Chinese sellers. I don't think they want to simply turn people away.

Is your account banned? Did you receive a notice from them saying you cannot sell on their site? Because if not, this COULD be just a glitch.

I have to add that in my category I have 50 Chinese sellers to every USA seller. Profits are non existent, search results are worse than ebay and amazon seems to be taking action to correct this slowly.
