Buyer contact through Gmail
 

In every order that I fulfill I put a note in the box thanking them for their order and asking them not to contact Amazon if there is a problem

Is it OK to ask them to contact me through my Gmail email? Or is that against Amazon policy?

This would avoid the bot picking up on key words in an through the Amazon email system

If it is against Amazon policy, what is the likelihood that a buyer would tell Amazon?

It is against amazon policy to provide your email. If you type in your email and try sending it to them it will be automatically removed. If you get creative you can figure out a way to not get it blocked. Usually you'll get a warning if amazon catches on to you. Enough warnings and you may have issues

I'm talking about it being printed on a slip and put in the box with the item

The problem I see with that is sometimes you want Amazon to see the communication with the buyer when they are in the wrong

against Amazon policy, however, it is a low risk method. It would be a good idea to give to the buyer a different email address than the one you are registered on amz with. In case he tries to report you, you can say that this email is not yours.
But you can do and tell the buyers anything you want, most of them will still contact you by amz.
