Scam Buyer?
 

A buyer purchased an item and as soon as they received it they said it was defective and I messaged them a prepaid return shipping label.

I never received the item back, and 6 weeks later I got an email from them stating they have just shipped the item back to me and that they didn't even use the label that I gave them (most likely because it was expired). They want to know when I will issue a full refund plus their shipping cost.

Can I refuse the shipment and tell them that they did not return it within the required time?

I know when a buyer requests a return that they have to ship it back within a certain timeframe

Am I likely to win an A to Z claim if I refuse shipment and refuse refund or should I just eat this one?. It's $230!

Actually I just checked and the buyer requested the return on the very last day of the 30 day warranty. Definitely sounds Ike a scammer

I would take it back and do a refund. Thats just me but I hate dealing with these types of grimy customers.

I ignored the buyer's emails and Amazon opened an A to Z claim and it says "Amazon Funded" so I got to keep the money and the returned item which was not defective by the way

Interesting, I never got an email that a claim was opened. I also notice other claims that were opened by Amazon and Amazon Funded for buyers who claimed that never got the item even though the tracking says delivered.

None of these claims count against the seller

It's nice they are finally doing things to favor the seller
