Amazon VCC issue?
 
Hi,

I have an Amazon account in the US. It is a active professional seller account.

I used an Amazon VCC and it was working well since a couple of months. Or since the beginning of the account.
Then on the day my payouts should be send to my Bank account, I did get a notification that my Credit Card is invalid.
The next payout is in two weeks.


I'm not sure but did Amazon change something?

Hm, same thing just happened to me. I was using an AmEx VCC I purchased here from Benjamin, and suddenly I get this message:

The credit card information in your seller account is invalid. You must update your existing credit card information or add a new credit card to regain full access to your account. Please check that your credit card is not expired, has adequate credit available, and is chargeable in the currency (USD) of Amazon.com. Pre-paid cards are not acceptable.

I have the feeling that they figured out somehow that these cards are prepaid cards, as per the last portion of their message? What kind of VCC were you using? What was the error message you got exactly?

This is bad news - you need to need to a valid cc on the account asap.

You should try deleting the card from your amazon account then re-adding it. This has worked in the past. Hopefully AMZ has not caught on to these just yet.

Also important to note:
1) must be a US AMZ account (amazon.com)
2) must have a US address
3) must have US sales only. if you sell in another country then it will usually not clear your disbursements.

If your account is negative due to returns/chargebacks/seller fees it will attempt to charge the negative balance on the CC on file. If you do not have enough funds to cover this, then the card will be denied/invalid

If your card has only $10 on it and you're requesting 11 disbursements within 3 days, each disbursement is a $1 test charge, so the card will become invalid. Test charges for disbursements usually go back after 3-5 business days. So if you do get an invalid card for having too many disbursements, remove the card and add it once the test charges have gone back to the card.

By US sales, does it include selling to non-US address using Amazon.com platform (i.e. foreigners come to Amazon.com to order stuff, paying US dollar and settling payment through Amazon.com)?

Yes, bjammin's advice worked! All I did was re-entered the same VCC information as before, however, I immediately went to my account and priced some items low to get few sales so my negative balance was resolved by selling few items and having a positive balance in my Amazon account. The VCC went through, and now the account is running fine. I just make sure that there is always positive balance there so they don't try to charge the VCC card since those usually only have $5 or so on them and if Amazon tries to charge your membership fee it wouldn't go through.
