Buyer paid by e-cheque, It is safe or not?

Dear everyone..
I am quite newbie in ebay au industry.. i have a case.. Somebody message me to update the item's quantity to 2 units and I did change it to 2 quantities available. Then, he bought 2 of them and made payment via e-cheques for 2 quantities. As i stated on listing, i do only accept Paypal. Is that safe or not?
Im wondering if he gets the item and claim to the bank that he does not receive item or whatever method to get his money back and run away with my product sold to him?

Looking forward for helps..
Thank you..

yes safe, but make sure you wait until you recieve email from paypal that money has cleared, once cleared then post

Once the payment clears, you are OK. Banks will not normally reverse a transaction written on a check unless the checks were stolen.

I tried getting my bank to reverse a payment this way two years ago. They asked me if I wrote the check, and I of course said yes. They told me there is nothing they can do, that if I feel I was ripped off I should sue the person in small claims court.

Of course, PayPal could still side with the buyer if they file a dispute.

This is important. Do not ship until cleared. This is not like a 21 day hold. You are allowed to wait. Its advised to wait in fact

This is VERY IMPORTANT! I have seen many payments like this fail. But the good thing is, PayPal expects you to wait, as POD pointed out, and will in fact notify you when the check clears or bounces.

Ya, Lots. I haven't seen an echeck in a long time. But they were always 50/50 it seemed.

First you wait until cleared to ship, but I have had one e-check clear and then be reversed because it was "unauthorized"
You don't see to many e-checks now days, but for me it would depend on the amount and profit margin of the item. You should be fine though.
