Changes to Aus Paypal Site
 

Just noticed the new changes to the Australia Paypal site when you go to open an account, any one have any ideas what they are up to? It looks similar to the pages used by the online banks when you apply for a new account, and they automatically check your address details through the Aus Post address confirmation service.

Are they matching names to the address? Or is it verifying that the addres does in fact exist?

I would think verifying address does exist and maybe matching surname (but that may be a bit hard)

If it is a similar thing to that what banks have then it is merely an address log, I remember I went intio a bank and tried to give them a false address and they couldn't enter it into the system as they needed to physically click on an address that popped up from the info I gave them.

I agree - surname match I doubt, what if your renting a room?

I think (not sure) that Aus post shares a DB with businesses confirming names and addresses. I've noticed a slight difference in opening eBay accounts recently bit more work required than before no dramas though...
