Default PayPal Money Request as a 'Service'

Hi Guys,

I just want to know, if a buyer is paying me for something (Around $50 bucks) directly via PayPal. And I have sent the buyer a money request as a 'Service'. What will happen if the buyer report to PayPal as Item Not Received? Because there is no option for me to upload the tracking when the payment is received as 'Service'.

Thanks!

Services are intangible 'items'. Hope you are not trying to do something subtle here but unlikely to have an INR reported - buyer can still do chargeback though

What willl happen is your account will go negative the amount the service was for and paypal will check who to side with. Most probably you will win since a service is not covered through paypal, but that could also get you limited and have paypal request for documents if you have multiple reports of it. Be ready to answer phone calls. They call alot of times and if your not there they just limit you.

No I'm not trying to scam anyone off. The situation is, I had something for sale at $600 bucks, this buyer he really wants it but told me he can only pay for it in 3 weeks time. I told him 3 weeks was way too long to wait (I'm confident that this item can be sold in just few days, hot item and relative cheap price). He begged me and telling me how much he wants them, so we ended up agree for him to make a $50 dollars deposit and I will hold the item for him for 3 weeks, and he pays the rest ($550) when he got the money.

I emailed him on the date he agreed to pay, he replied me 4 days later told me he is not going to buy it. After wasting my time for almost 4 weeks, he now wants me to refund him the deposit. This is exactly why I asked for a deposit, should I refund him the money or not?

Default Yeah!

Alot of buyers are doing that now. They want an item badly then they cancel quickly afterwards.
This is only my 2-cents but I believe those people have multiple accounts and are selling same item as you and faster they get rid of your item from the listing the more bids they will get on their item.

Someone actually did that to me in the past. We both sold same item so I thought it was odd that he clicked on "Buy it now" then promised me he would pay after 6 days.

I agree. He soon canceled after 6 days. He was waiting for his item to end its auction which was 6 days because we sold same item as me.

you have no choice but to refund. paypal does not deal with your layaway plan. maybe if you had a signed contract saying the deposit was non refundable but even then, you are not dealing with reasonable people. if they open a case, they will win and you will now be under more scrutiny. refund the $50 and you learned a lesson, for free.

Thanks Slim Jim, I totally agree with what you said, refund him now I really don't have anything to lose, and I did learnt my lesson. Never hold anything, if someone wants anything, buy it and pay for it, otherwise it is not yours.

Try to avoid pp unless you really need to use it.
