paypal hit $700, we need to confirm your identity
 

Hi everyone.

My paypal balance had just reached $700 and along with that came an email from paypal stating " Your PayPal account balance is nearing $1000 AUD. When your balance reaches this amount, we'll need to confirm your identity."

At this moment I'm still able to use all functions of paypal, however, there is the constant warning message for me to confirm identity.

As this is a stealth account, it is not plausible for me to follow up on their demand.

Would I now be safe to keep operating this account by maintaining the balance quite low or is my account ultimately toast？

I doubt they are going to just let that go, seems like they are giving you warning and some time to get them your ID before they limit the account

I'm not certain what the rules are for Australia users, but I can tell you I had a similar case with one of my Paypal accounts.

I operated w/ a "limited" Paypal account for a year without confirming identity - I still have the account. To this day, every time I sign in, they show me the splash page that I need to submit paperwork to confirm identity.

What they limited me from was transferring funds into the PP account from my bank account (which was quite alright w/ me). I was still allowed to withdraw funds with no issues.

Hopefully, this is the same case with you.

It is a money laundering annual receiving limit. All EU accounts have this as well (cash amount of limit maybe slightly different).

You can rest assured that a limitation and request for documents is on its way.

Going to depend on what amount of transactions you have in the pipeline.

Think carefully of how you use the account......

Spread your sales to new stealths to avoid hitting the limit salp

Consider more accounts to offset this $1000 ceiling.
All OZ accounts have the issue.

Hi one of my accounts is 2 years old and 18months ago they sent the same email and same message. I just didn't let it hit the $1000 mark. Hope that helps

I had to go to post office with all my id on real account
So, with a stealth, as long as you never have $700 at any one time in pay pal -that's ok?? so just keep moving the money and we should not get asked ??

I just sold an item for $1200. Both the ebay and paypal is in stealth.
Both accounts 2 months old.

I was expecting the item to sell over $1000 so i had already "Prepared" To submit ID. lol

Payment came and the odd thing was paypal never asked me to submit ID.
I did not get a 21 day hold either and never did in the entire 2 months.

Not sure what is going on.

I have not withdrawn the money yet as i am suspicious i will get limited ASAP because Paypal is never this nice. Don't know what to do as I am abit surprised by this situation. lol

It is normal for PayPal to request identification for verification once your account reaches the $1000.00 limit. Your account is not toast. If you keep your PayPal balance under $1000 and you do not trigger any other red flags you will be fine. I would recommend keeping your PayPal balance below $500.00. Buy an item on eBay using your PayPal balance or withdraw to a bank account.

This is very unorthodox because PayPal usually REQUIRES you to submit ID after you reach the $1000.00 threshold.

When I receive the message at $700 usually I spend the balance until it reaches $700 again.

One time I didn't want to spend and I verified one account - passed.

I think PP continues to work with PROJECTED sales target figure - so if you sell too quickly, you can get limited faster than $1000.

Example - $100 sales a day for 5 days in a row...expect to be hit by PP

Just giving an update. I now have to submit ID. seemed like there was some sort of glitch/delay in the system.
