Paypal: No Christmas joy

Bunch of poxy gits.

paypal is handing out 21 day holds like candy.

Other sellers on ebay OZ have been caught off guard with these holds.

Majority I have been talking with are using established accounts with good selling history.

they also have no clues as to what is happening.

Yeah they were/are doing that to me but the estimated funds availability goes down from 21 days to about 10 sometimes even 7 once a label is printed, the buyer receives the item, and given they leave good feedback I've got my funds in about 5 -7 days was the quickest for some transactions.

christmas time we all buy expensive useless **** - scammers take advantage of that

Re: Paypal: No Christmas joy

What is the name of the hold?
Mine get released in batches every night at 11:30Pm eastern time. Non have been longer than seven days even when not shipped...

I had two accounts with a single release date, similar to Amazon. All have been released early in batches at 11:30Pm. Release dates were december 16th and december 26th. All of those funds have become available as well.

Re: Paypal: No Christmas joy

I would think it is because of the increased chances of fraud during the holiday season.

That's the likely reasoning.

Hard for sellers who had no idea of paypal & its games.

Many had no idea what to do to resolve the situation.

Have you noticed more 21 day holds even when the item shows delivered and the 3 days pass?

It seems about 20% of my paypal funds are still held after delivery and 3 days pass. Most of that 20% that is held finally gets released 7 days later, not 3 days.

This many holds is new to me. I always get the funds within 3 daysof delivery, sometimes glitches happen but rarely. This is no glitch.

Paypal thinks the season is still Halloween instead of Christmas, hey Paypal, I want some kit kat.

Dr Yossi,

This is info from others, and so second hand.

Touch wood, I have not had these types of holds.

Yes, I have had what I term soft holds. These have lasted less than 8 hours.
(and/or phone calls from me.)

What you described is similar to UK holds my brother has had there.

Like you, he is convinced this is no glitch.

Hey guys, one of my stealth accounts that previously didn't have any holds just received a 21 day hold for it's last transaction on ebay. I was wondering if I had done something wrong to flag it. Very interesting

Fair enough holiday season is when scammers will be at their most prominent but surely if you are going to start this whole 21 day hold crap you can at least do us the courtesy of reviewing every account a little bit more thoroughly before just throwing out 21 day holds left, right and centre.

One of my accounts did the same, but it held 5 transactions 3 weeks ago and than that was it the rest just were instant after that .

Re: Paypal: No Christmas joy

Regarding the holds, are they being applied to accounts that had first sale 90 days ago, Total sales value over $250 and has had more than 25 sales?

craigoaus 12-15-2014 07:55 PM

Re: Paypal: No Christmas joy

I have to wonder if it is Paypal making these holds but rather it is eBay telling PP to hold the payments. I list using third party listing app that comes up with a message saying your payments will be held blah blah. Accounts that meet the requirements I mentioned previously do not get this message (or have not so far, touch wood)

Yes. Some of these accounts are years old and handle tens of thousands a month

You are talking of US accounts? What happens in the States usually takes a while to get to Aus. These holds have only recently started here in Aus but what I have read here you guys in the States have been getting them for a long time?
