A Levis Question: what to check to list successfully

Hi all
Am hoping some one could help...
I noticed vintage Levis jeans are good items to sell on ebay. I often come across alot of good vintage Levis jeans but, being inexperienced with the product I dont know what to look for or what the potential buyers might want...

Sometimes I come across Levis so old that the brand tag on back hip is not even in leather, rather in white cotton style..

Can some one help me with info of what to look out for when I buy Levis to resell on EB?

Thank you so much...

NL :D

bumpity bump... just hoping it will come to some one's attention who may help me :)

I dont mean how to list them... :) just what Levi's to buy and how to determine how old they are ... and what sells well etc.

atm am specialing in one off vintage clothings and personally handmade vintage dresses, but vintage levis are also something am interested in selling and would love some help. Thanks in advance.

Start here, then have a peek over here. If you didn't get to Levi Strauss Museum Buttenheim by now, go there.
If that ain't enough to get you going where you want, let me know.

do you browse opshoppee for your vintage LS jeans or are they sourced from specialist suppliers?

Vicvelcro 07-02-2009 11:02 PM

Actually, to be honest with you, I have 2 relatives that keep me informed and occasionally supplied. But I follow enough to KNOW what I need to, and delegate to them by choice.

Did the info help you out plenty? Or did I miss something still?

where would one gets these types of jeans? goodwill or thrift store or soemthing?

Vicvelcro 07-08-2009 05:28 PM

Both of those are possibilities. But the really good stuff hardly ever pops up there.

You need to look in the newspaper for estate sales. Visit the location in advance. Look in attics and basements for luggage and steamer-trunks. See what's inside. Attics are the most common place to find old jeans or other clothing, and it will most likely be in a suitcase or kick/duffel bag.

Also, check the rafters of old houses and barns for boxes and chests.

That oughtta keep you busy for a minute. And it can make for a fun weekend. You'll make new friends and discover new flavors of coffee/beer. Heck, you may even run out of gas on some back-road!

Vintage levis are like hen's teeth. Also the powersellers are very mean and greedy, very:fight:

whoa! you from montana or something?

Vicvelcro 07-09-2009 01:17 AM

No, I'm actually a long way from Montana. I'm somewhere between Chicago and Philadelphia. I've found more stashes of Levi's in the Nashville area than anyplace else I've had the opportunity to scrounge, but there's a lot of places I've never been.

My suspicion, based on economy and lifestyles, is that California, Arizona, West Virginia, and Montana would be the best places. But that's just an educated guess. Miners and farmers... Texas and New Mexico are likely candidates too because of cattle. Northern Ohio because of the rock and roll culture. Probably quite a few attic boxes going back to the 60's and 70's anyhow.
