| | | ebay100 | 12-22-2007 08:22 PM | BEST TIME / DAY to list.... I have read ..different times from Friday to Tuesday?
What you think for a 7 day listing.. WHY?
EB:rolleyes: |
| sycore | 12-22-2007 10:57 PM | In the early days, if you were selling VERO you could list friday after 6pm and manually end it early monday before safehabour monkey would get in, but for the last 2-3 years now it is just the opposite. Best to list monday to thursday. |
| Dutch | 12-22-2007 11:15 PM | A word about the start and finish of auctions you actually list! Class Action Against eBay
Aug, 22, 2007: "A class action lawsuit alleges that eBay deceived customers whose auctions did not start when their listing was submitted and who paid for but did not receive the full duration of auction time that they selected.
"eBay has been deceiving millions of consumers over the years by claiming their auctions start when submitted, when in reality they do not begin for at least several hours, and up to 24 hours," said attorney John Fabry.
"However, the clock starts running on your selected auction time even though eBay hasn't posted it yet."
The suit focuses on violations of various provisions of California statutes intended to protect consumers, as well as common law.
The suit seeks injunctive relief and damages for the customers who make up the class. It is estimated that there are millions of eBay consumers that have been affected by eBay's course of conduct." |

| Jonas | 12-23-2007 05:23 PM | That class action suit explains why listings have been showing up immediately for the past month or so. |
| ebayhateluv | 12-23-2007 06:08 PM | The Vero Items, they now mandate must be either 5 , 7 or 10 day- no more 1 day listing on Names.. So, I schedule mine to start Weds eve, run through Sunday eve.. |
| ebay100 | 12-26-2007 01:31 PM | I read.. Sunday to Sunday is best..
Some say Tuesday to Sunday (5 day)
EB:cool: |
| scouse12345 | 12-26-2007 10:15 PM | Many different answers to the question you asked..personally i try to make listings end, mid evening.... 10 day listings....i think start Thurs, will get 2 weekend exposures... as regards the time Ebay takes to put a listing up, if you search by item number.. it will appear almost immediately... but you try listing a high value item...or brand name...Zippo for instance.. you can wait up to 24 hours for it to appear on normal search.. |
| ebay100 | 12-28-2007 12:16 AM | interesting? 10 day listings ..do they produce better? cost more yes?
I find a 7 day to only get hits after 5 days ..so I like 5 day listings the best starting tuesday and ending on Sunday .. IMO
EB:eek: |
| ebayhateluv | 12-28-2007 05:39 AM | HI- Have tried all the combinations over the years-- as the Reseacrh suggests- Ending on a Sunday Eve- is the best. Folks are at home, on their pcs..
FOr VERO type items- they will ONLY let you do a 5 day or 7 day or 10 day..NO MOre 1 day Rolex auctions...UNLESS of course you have the 10 fb, and its for a ROOLEX or a ROLEEX..... :) then it works! |
| ivegotinfo | 12-28-2007 09:55 AM | the best times are 5 days for anything since 7 or 10 day listings will be waaaaaaaaaaaay at the back of the search someone does, and noone will bid or see them until the final days, so listing 7or10 u're just wasting time. (i think)
also, i just use Terapeak for every listing to see when is the best time/type of listing to list- Free research data: hot products & current trends. |
| ebay100 | 12-29-2007 02:44 PM | Should we.. Stay away from 3 day listings for new accounts..
Read you get nailed if you use them .
True or False?
EB:confused: |
| ebayhateluv | 12-29-2007 02:52 PM | That is true (for me anyhow)-- When I listed all 7 day auctions, acct was fine- once i got acct over 60 days + fedback over 10- then i got brave for the 1 day auctions , accts still up |
| koalawash | 12-29-2007 04:41 PM | LOL but then you'd probably get screwed on the final bid.. how many people you think are out there searching for a ROOLEX? :D |
| ebayhateluv | 12-29-2007 05:55 PM | HI- NO ONE Probably- BUt when You place it in the Correct Category- it will show up.. Watches/wristwatches/then brand from drop down specifics- Rolex.
Believe me.. they find it.. Other Variations for this Brand in your title is:
Oyster Perpetual box, Golden Swiss Crown Collection, SubmaRINER or Daytona (all without the actual word Rolex)--Try it- Place a listing - then do a search for the ACTUAL item.. it will show up.(i.e. Roolex box)-- then search for rolex box-- your item will show if in correct category-watches. |

EB:confused: | Well I don't know but I'm about to find out in 3 days.. ;) |
| koalawash | 12-29-2007 09:29 PM | CRAP.. looks like I found out early. :(
The account was zero-feedback but a couple of days old already. So I guess don't try 3-day auctions right away. What I was selling was fairly expensive too, though, so that might have also played a part in it. |

Have you tried say, RxOxLxExX ?????? |
| ebay100 | 12-30-2007 02:56 PM | Koal... They booted you? You were suspended for 3 day?
Oh no..
EB ..Sick of this:mad: |
| koalawash | 12-30-2007 02:58 PM | Yeah, not just a temporary suspension.. they booted me minutes after I'd posted my first auction. I'm pretty sure it's because I listed a 3-day. The stupid thing is, if eBay doesn't want noobs listing 3-day auctions then why do they even make the option available to them?? |
| ebayhateluv | 12-30-2007 05:13 PM | JUst Curious- what was the heading-- "Abusing" or Not in the spirit of ebay?? |
| koalawash | 12-30-2007 07:45 PM | The heading was something about "Abusing eBay" but then somewhere in the body of the message it also talked about going against the spirit of our policies or whatever. |
| ebay100 | 12-31-2007 07:15 PM | 3 day Auctions I guess are Taboo.. I read that several times ..I would just avoid them when you do a new..
EB:eek: |
| ebay100 | 01-04-2008 02:50 PM | Apkin ..what do you think? About 3 DAY Auctions??? Avoid ??
Thoughts
EB:confused: |
| hondaman350 | 01-07-2008 12:48 PM | I did the 3 day auction, And It did fine and I got paid faster instead of waiting 10 days for the auction to end |
| koalawash | 01-07-2008 04:30 PM | Yeah, I have found out since that the 3-day thing only hurts 0-fb accounts if eBay (in all its infinite wisdom) deems your items "high risk". |
| ebayhateluv | 01-07-2008 05:14 PM | fyi- if you are listing a vero item, and you have maneuvered the spelling of the title, make sure you keep it at a 5 day or 7 day with a buy it now.. you can list it 1 day after the titles been changed, but they got me 3 times on that.. when i changed up to the rules---5 or 7 nowadays on vero items, its ok,, last year we used to do 1 day, no more |
| bigbill321 | 05-16-2008 07:14 PM | Whens the best day and/or time to have a US auction end? I was just wondering what some of you guys think. My auctions that end on friday don't sell as good as sunday or monday. What does everyone think? |
| Junkymail | 05-16-2008 10:37 PM | This site is great for giving you statistics on auction listings. It's free to register and well worth it. Mpire Researcher
Another good one is called TeraPeak I think, but I haven't used that one in awhile.
Type in keywords for your type of listings and you will see the trends average start price, keyword recommendations, best categories, best time to end, etc. |
| ebayhateluv | 05-16-2008 10:53 PM | HI: Years ago-it used to be a "power seller" secret to have your auctions end on a Sunday evening, as everyone is home, etc.
__But then everyone caught on..
I still end some on sunday eves, but most on a friday eve, sat morn, as people have their paychecks |
| 2eXclusiive | 05-17-2008 09:39 AM | thanks for the info "junkymail" great tool to have. |
| Lisa B | 05-21-2008 05:18 PM | I usually end mine on a Sunday when people are home. |
| 2eXclusiive | 05-21-2008 05:44 PM | sunday is the busiest on ebay for americans. |
| jscan | 05-25-2008 11:16 PM | i usually list weeknights when i get home from work |
| tvaughan08 | 05-26-2008 08:39 AM | The best time is normally. 6-10 p.m east coast standard time, or whatever time is relevant to that. |
| asim7766 | 07-30-2008 08:11 PM | when to sell if you know what item sells, and you sell worldwide, you can pretty much list anytime. i use to sell my items in 3 day listings. and everyday i would sell all my items and i would post items to sell that same day. the best times would probably be around 5-8 pm thats when most people are up. well most of my customers were from the east coast and i liveon the west. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:34 PM. | |
