Question about 100 listing per 30 day period

Got this msg when trying to list today.

Attention
You've reached the selling limit for the number of items you can list. New sellers are limited to 100 (active + completed) items or $5000 of sales (active + completed) per 30-day period. This means you can stay within your limit or contact us to review your account with you.

We'd like the opportunity to review your account to help ensure you are on track to provide a good experience for eBay buyers.

Please call us between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM (PT) Monday-Friday at 1-866-492-3229 to speak with a customer support representative.

Anyone come upon this? I do have a listing up with a quantity of 320 items. I'm wondering because I don't think they will sell that fast that if I changed the amount to say like 50 or 60 if it would then allow me to list more items in this 30 day period. I tried to edit the listing with no luck. Was thinking of cancelling the listing and then trying to redo it. But of course then I risk not being able to put it back up with a lower quantity.

Got this kind of message with a different account - wasn't exactly the same message but was just saying Attention you have the potential to hit 100 etc if you do, contact etc.

Only have about 20 listings up but over 5 day period so probably a velocity tracer installed.

If you're listing is up with 320 items let it be and wait. I don't know if taking it down will reset the max. Just let the account be for 30 days - work on different account.

Yea I think thats what I'm going to do. I also got the other warning about potentialy hitting the 100 listing on a different account. Thing is I have way more than 100 items listed on that account. Oh well thats ebay I guess!

That's good news I've never seen that one before, of coarse I've never gone over 5k in a month I've come pretty close, at least now I know to keep track of the number of listings I put up in a month .

grrr, been happening on ebay co uk. Now it's happening in Canada so be ready in USA. 'Newish' accounts get this bomb :pop2:

needhelpplease 08-07-2010 06:31 AM

changing the amount wont reset the limit if you only have say 20 listings available left and you change the 320 to say 10.....and then try and change it back to 320 once you realize it wont work.... it wont let you do it so it is just best to wait the 30 days for it to reset. Good Luck!

Yeah well at least you were able to do 100 listings at least because on my account that I have had since 2007 got hit with a limit when i only listed 4 items. It went on to say that they want to keep ebay say blah blah blah and that I need to become paypal verified in order to continue to sell on ebay. I was only using a merchant account.

Yea I'm finding it's hit and miss. I have an account with way more than 100 items listed and it only warns me im getting close but never reached the limit. Yet on 2 other accounts I've met my limit and can't list anything new. Realy hit and miss:croc:

Again, Why do I keep reading messages from people stating "100 items, or 5K"?.... I get limits without even coming close to that. :mad2:

Maybe its something else that is getting you limited and not the "100 listings" or "5k" a month...

Are you getting the limit email or verify your identity on your new accounts.
They are hammering all new accounts, with limits or call to verify your identity.

Any updates on this? I just got hit with this. It sucks. Did the listings limit get reset after 30 days? And did you get it again? Also I wonder if this will trigger a flag to ebay for verify.

shorti6877 09-23-2010 11:49 AM

does it expire from the first item sold??? or as each item sold date reaches 30 days??

DAILYHUNDRED 09-23-2010 09:09 PM

I don't know let's see what the experts say. It sucks since I list variations so pretty much I can only list like 5 items haha

The 100 listings renews itself each calender month. Go into your My Ebay, click on selling and then scroll all the way to the very bottom of the page.....ithere are 4 columns that will say....start date...end date...used.....left followed by the numbers that pertain to you.

This is why it is Oh So Very Important to follow the "slow and steady wins the race" moto. Create a few accounts....sell a few items each month on each account...and in 6 months you will be good to go. May suck at the beginning but well worth it in the long run.

It all has to do with the types of items you sell, seller ratings/feedback/disputes and frequency of activity.

hingwhh 09-24-2010 12:20 PM

Some of my accounts only can list 20items per month, anybody know why? Is is ok to create 5 eBay account to one paypaL and one name too? Thanks

shorti6877 09-24-2010 01:26 PM

so i checked all the way at the bottom it said i had a a bunch of free auctions left but I dont think this has to do with my free auction listing...its still not letting me. I think this is because of a new account. Im sure knowing my luck its 30 days from the last auction that was sold which was yesterday.
I would try to open another account under the same name but they would prob suspend me knowing ebays track record.

rsot 09-24-2010 01:39 PM

@hingwhh - you can create 5 ebay accounts to one paypal - it's been done if you read around the forums.

Just remember, if one goes down since they are all linked, you will probably lose a bunch. Not 100% though - probably - few others have been operating multiple accounts even when one gets blocked.

Remember that the 100 free listings is only for auctions starting at .99 or lower and excludes a few different categories.....cant remember which ones...but you can click on the part that says "listing offers" and it will give you the "fine print"

shorti6877 09-24-2010 04:00 PM

would asking ebay thru chat when i can be able to start putting up auctions put up a red flag to ebay? i have a 100% rating...i get dumb people who think when they pay first class mail it will get there in a day so they give me little lower shipping time..that star system is so dumb.

needhelpplease 09-24-2010 04:08 PM

If you have low DSRs then you will be limited as to how many auctions you will be able to list until those DSRs are highered, contacting live chat wont help any....although I dont believe it will raise a red flag as I have contacted live chat in the past with no issue....but you have to concentrate on bringing those DSRs up.....leave a note in your packages thanking the buyer for their purchase and list each of the categories they are to "grade" you on....mention under "shipping time" that you ask that they please look at the post marked date on the package to show that you shipped the item within 1 day of cleared payment.....etc.....this method should help....when you first start selling on a new account you need to be SUPER DUPER PERFECT....ship within 1day if not the same day and make sure you are super accurate with descriptions....but again.....contacting ebay wont help....you have to bring those DSRs up in order to be able to list more auctions....Good Luck!

shorti6877 09-24-2010 04:15 PM

I dont think my star rating is that bad. This is what I have so far. Also theres quite a few people who have gotten their items and have not even given me feedback. And I had heard you cant ask someone to leave feedback to get feedback in return.

Item as described 5.0/5.0
Communication 4.9/5.0
Shipping time 4.7/5.0
Shipping and handling charges 4.9/5.0

needhelpplease 09-24-2010 04:51 PM

It is not necessarily the actual number....say you had 4.9 or even 5.0 in one category then all of a sudden you have the next 50 or whatever feedbacks mostly giving a 3 for shipping time or whatever.....although it only brings your score down to 4.7 it causes ebay a concern that your "performance" is dropping....thus them limiting your allowed number of auctions to list until those numbers start going back up........not that I am saying I agree with ebay's DSR program because it is bull, but that is how it works

needhelpplease 09-24-2010 04:55 PM

Oh and in regards to your statement about requesting feedback......that is why l said to leave a note in with your shipment or even emailing them to their direct email just thanking them for their business and how much you appreciate them blah blah blah and state "when leaving feedback please keep in mind....." blah blah blah.....and there is nothing wrong with that. 8/10 auctions I buy I get letters or emails just like that. Putting in your listing that you only give feedback when it is left is probably not wise and not very customer friendly, but emailing after they purchase or including a note in their purchase actually shows care and communication! :)
