google was my friend
but....are you positive that the trolls can read this data??????? |
hey guys,if your wondering what exif data your pictures contain,
all you need to do is right click on your picture and go to properties!
simplezzz |
| NotAHappyBunny | 05-19-2011 10:42 AM | hi
MR GTB
viewing properties doesn't show everything thats stored.
The tool exiftool-8.56 shows you what is in your images. Just drag the image onto the exe file and a dos screen will open up with LOTS of properties.
this is a small free tool. |
hey
ive just used exifcleaner to remove date from pics but......
it doesent remove file data,
now if eb look at this info e.g comp owner name, user name etc they could link you,

any help would be appreciated! | A unique computer name? What are you using, R2-D2? :suspicious:
That data is based on the file being created, modified and stored on your computer. It is local information on Windows.
If you are all para troopers, then why not change this info? Change your computer name to something generic like 'admin', change your usernames to match your eBay stealth names etc |
i cant change my computer name but im expecting you to tell me how its done:)
i have tried to do it but it didnt work |
| ShadyOne | 05-19-2011 12:53 PM | ^^ I will tell you in this one post. If we start talking about computer name, we will get attacked by the stealth members who know it doesn't matter. :D
Windows: Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Computer Name. |
| GrannyT | 05-19-2011 12:56 PM | It doesn't matter. .:D |

I would suggest keeping a few harmless identifiers, slightly altering some properties such as contrast/size etc.
I have read that there are bots crawling for duplicate image properties including exposure, flash etc - if this is a concern - wipe them.
What properties are you wishing to clean or are concerned about?
They may be harmless or only harmful if they exist as a group of constant duplicate properties. I would also think that this alone would not be a definate linking factor and would only serve as a case builder (so to speak). Quote:

| Unzip the folder - a new folder will appear, then leave the unzipped folder open - open your folder with pics, drag an image to the exe file - the dos screen opens with your image properties.
Hope that helps
:yar: |
just the ones at the bottom of the properties, the file info
i think that it will be ok |
and about that exiftool, when i open it it just has a black window ,like the config window with writing explaining about it,that is it,i might of d`loaded the wrong thing tbh,if you have a direct link for it id be greatfull NAHbunny
cheers bunny |

Do not open the exe file - drag an image onto the exe file - then press run in the popup box.
note: if the image is open in an editor - it will not work. |
| ShadyOne | 05-19-2011 04:07 PM | Or use the GUI I provided, it is MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY
A GUI always is! :D |
