Default Selling limits are occasionally placed on listings (item limits)

Hi,

Atm, I'm so frustated with ebay.
I try to list an item, and a message comes up (selling limits are occasionally placed on listings). Here's the full message:

"Attention Sellers:
In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on listings. You currently have such a limit on your account. Please do not attempt to relist this item for 30 days.

Sellers who have a consistent positive selling history of such items may be eligible to have these limits raised. If you would like eBay to review your limits or if you have any additional questions, please email Customer Support.

Find out more about eBay’s listing guidelines.

You may be able to list this item in 25 days."

I have to wait for 25 more days to be able to list this item? Why?

Is there any algorithm from ebay about this item selling limit?
I need to sell this item asap, for certain occasion.

Can anyone understand this and help, please?

Much appreciated. Thanks.

How do they decide when to start the 30 day countdown? Is it the day you sell your last "within limit" item? I don't get how they decide when to start clocking your 30 days.

pinkmilk, it's the day you sell your last "within limit" item. Based on my experience.

there is no way around it? nooooooooooooo, can't wait 'til March..
they don't even tell us what is the limited item, until we try to list the item & got the above message..

so annoying..

I've another question.

In regards to the "item limit", will the limit be raised if I become a Powerseller?
Example: normally only able to sell 5 items within 30 days, would it be raised to (say) 10 items within 30 days?

Again, many thanks.

bpdoz brings up a good point - I don't think you can become a PS with low limits in place...maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong?

It is certain brands of goods within a category that have limits. For example MAC, Chanel, Lancome makeup has limits within the health and beauty category, but Bobbi Brown, YSL and Benefit do not. I have discovered this by trial and error. You could try listing the item within a different category- however you might not get as many buyers/ bidders. I also managed to list within the correct category by removing the brand name from the listing title and leaving it in the description- but again your item could be missed by buyers searching this way. I have had these limits removed before from an account before- but it had over 300 positive feedback and it way a 2-3 year old account. I just sent them a message asking them to remove limits and they did. However- I have no idea what/ if there is minimum amount of feedback required before they will do this.

easytiger12381, thanks for this information. very useful.
May I ask how did you ask ebay to remove your limit? Email/message/phone?
Atm, I have no guts yet because my account is still less than 1 year.

seanws30, I have over 100 transactions already.
All checkpoint already checked now, just waiting for the next ebay evaluation sometime this month.

I think you can become a PS with low item limits in place. As easytiger12381 mention, I think it's depend on the category of the listings.
