| | Will I get linked through my photos this way? I'm not going to upload my photos directly to eBay..
Instead, I'm going to upload to an imgur album, then use the URL's to add the photos.
So since I'm not uploading directly to eBay, they can't see any EXIF information, can they? Cause this is supposedly what they link you with.
I'm always uploading to a website like imgur anyway, since I need the URL because I ALSO need it to embed my photos into the listing description too. |
Why dont you just avoid the risk and strip to make them appear new anyhow? |
| Lheonard | 10-03-2012 05:24 AM | ^^ you should remove the EXIF information with a software to be on the safe side.
BatchPurifier will do the work : BatchPurifier LITE - Free Metadata Removal Tool
BatchPurifier™ is the ideal tool to remove hidden data & metadata from multiple files.
Hidden data stored in many popular file types may contain confidential and private information that when exposed can cause you and your organization embarrassment with possible financial and legal implications.
Powered by Digital Confidence DataDistiller™ Engine, BatchPurifier™ is able to remove more than 50 types of hidden data from 20 file types, including Microsoft OfficeŽ documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), OpenOffice.org documents, PDF documents, and popular image and media file types such as JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, SVG, AVI, WAVE, AIFF, MP3, MP4, and F4V. BatchPurifier™ can remove hidden data from files even if they are compressed within ZIP files.
Best of luck. |

. | Ok thanks. I'm on a Mac so I'm not sure if that particular software will work..if not, I saw another that was mentioned. BUT, can I at least strip the data, then upload them all to imgur from my regular IP? They can't see & link me from the IP I upload them from, can they? Of course if the photos were for different eBay accounts, I wouldn't upload them under the same imgur username or into the same album... |
Anyone? :bump:
I want to upload my listing pictures to different Photobucket accounts (1 for each eBay account). If I upload all of them to the Photobucket accounts from my regular IP (attached to my legit account) - can eBay see that & link me? Or am I being too paranoid? Before I'd upload to photobucket and use the URL's on eBay, I'd have all the EXIF data removed.
Hopefully I'm making sense. And BTW, I use a different Windows VPS for each Stealth account, so it's a lot easier to just upload them all on Photobucket from my computer (a Mac), and then access them on Photobucket when I connect to my VPS's. |
Very easy to clean them up |

Very easy to clean them up | I know, I did..I downloaded 'Photo Privacy' for Mac. Then uploaded the 'clean pics' to imgur and tinypic. Then logged onto my Stealth accounts, went to each of their URL's, and copied it into my listings. I'm hoping everything I did was fine |
This EXIF data in photos is giving me a hard time I bought a $4 program from the Mac App Store called 'Photo Privacy' to strip EXIF data from my photos. So I removed the data using the program, then uploaded the photos to imgur, then under my Stealth accounts IP I accessed the URL, & copied it to use in my eBay listing (which I posted last night)
However, today I used an EXIF data VIEWER (some free one online) and when I put in the URL to my image, some information still showed up. I'm not sure if it's just some default information OR of it's important info that they eBay can potentially link me with. :(
This was the info:
File Size, File Type, Type of image, Width, Height, Encoding Process, Bits Per Sample, Color Components, Resolution, Sub Sampling
Is this fine? The whole idea of them tracking & linking my accounts through EXIF data has been a headache so far in terms of being unsure if the data remover worked, if eBay will link accounts, etc... |
| GreenGhost | 10-05-2012 12:38 AM | man do people search the forum at all?? all these questions people seem to ask recently have been answered/problems resolved. im really confused to some peoples logic.. |

in responce to the above quoated portion of your post: This is standard information about the "structure" if you will of the image. This should not any way way link you to anything. In addition both ebay as well as imgur, will end changing most of this data simply by their own resizing etc that may take place when you post to either site.
This is baseline information that all images will contain in one form or another. Even simply changing the size of the image will make changes to any of these. Perhaps if they were scouting for images that matched ALL of these they could begin to see exact matches with images but they would phyically need to view them and make a Human assesment.
Ultimately strip all info and then if you feel a need change the images size, even slightly and you'll readjust most all of those numbers |

So your post wasn't necessary...but thanks for bumping my thread :ranger: |

| Takumi Fujiwara | 10-16-2012 09:58 AM | PhotoScape is a free photo editing program I have used for years which allows you to view and remove EXIF data in bulk. |
| joesshooze | 03-07-2013 12:28 PM | FYI verexif.com worked great for me... I just uploaded file to verexif.com checked the metadata and then cleaned it. Double checked it on exifviewer.org and all data but size is gone. I never had a GPS location in mine but a bunch of metadata stuff that I didn't understand.
But now it's GONE NOW so I will do this when I take new pics with my GS111 cell phone. |
| ICANSELL | 03-23-2013 02:12 AM | So pretty much if you strip all of the data and even resize it, would it be safe to use the same images on different accounts?
Hence the fact there is no trace that it is the same pic? |
| joesshooze | 01-03-2014 02:54 PM | Re: Will I get linked through my photos this way? No it's not 100% safe. If eb really wants to link you they can do it by the pic angle, background and of course the subject. It's been said several hundred gazillion times that stealth is everything new. eb is not stupid.
