Default So you mean to tell me ... That if I ...

hmmmmmm .... So I've been reading the forums and it appears to be good time is spent on descriptions for ads. So you mean to tell me if I spend MORE TIME writing up a good ad this can mean more money?

I always thought researching the item. Look at the completed ads and look for the highest selling item and REWORD IT then call your own title description was good enough.

PLEASE DON'T BASH ME FOR CHEATING! LOL

I want to learn how I can do better. ALOT BETTER

Listings are hardly 'ads'.

Do you mean writing words to describe your item so it will sell on ebay?

That my friend, was the key. Perhaps I should have a different perception when it comes to listing on ebay .

then you took the 1st step, Grasshopper.

Selling either on ebay or amazon is in the approach.

To list, you have to 'own' the item. Not rehash another's words.

Note taken. No more being lazy. I been on ebay since ebay first came around back in 98 or so. Once ebay started changing and the market changed. I used ebay/amazon as a 2nd source of income ... maybe even 3rd. However, Now i wish to shift focus and make ebay/amazon primary. With that being said, just paying attention to the experts in the field

I don't Ebay but when trying to sell your Product or Service you need to market effectively.

I guarantee your competition is going the extra mile.

This includes a great offer, great copy, great images, and great customer service.

Think Apple. Highest priced products, cult like following, and they became the #1 company in the World.

Now think "Dell" and maybe you'll start to see the difference.

Selling on multiple accounts like I do I sometimes have to stop and think a bit because I never want any of my listings to sound, look etc the same.

However, I find that making a description with your own words and adding a "personal" touch always gets me better results.

I won`t, but if your competition finds you lifting their descriptions they certainly will.

If someone was copying your work you would not be a happy camper either.

I get people stealing my photos a lot, they get the old Sandy slap real quick and down they go like clock work.

I dont want people stealing my effort and hard work and dont think you would want it done to you either.

Yes good descriptions matter, but don't blabber about either. Stick to the facts, and have good pictures. That's it

My descriptions are usually 1 line in default text and they still sell for about the same and sometimes more than other listings with an oversized fancy description. I think a good pic and title are most important, of course I only sell items with a high demand, that always helps to..

I've done some testing with items with basic description ex. measurements and condition vs. long description and I never really saw a difference, it's almost like all matters in the title and your price.

Maybe it's just my niche and the fact that my competition can't touch my prices, but has anyone done any testing and found a significant difference in sales with a longer description?

This should be common sense..... no offense but its kind of obvious isn't it?

Would you buy a pc that has 1 photo and a 10 word description

or would you buy the SAME pc that has 20 photos and a 1000 word description?

You're right...because dumbasses are ALWAYS asking me questions that are stated within the FIRST LINE of my auctions. When they do that crap, I block immediately. If you can't read, I DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS.

Neither. I hate the extremely long ads with a bunch of bs jargon that doesn't even matter, plastered with millions of pictures. And I hate people who put a bs one line description and a picture. I like to be precise and to the point in my auctions, use colors where they are necessary to highlight shipping cost, etc. or specific things about the item. 2-5 pictures depending on what it is.

I share my knowledge plenty and you know it GB

As for what I do...reason I have not commented is because I have not had this problem for a long time.

I put remarks on my photos with user name etc - sometimes buyers ask me...'Err is my item stamped with your name?', to which I reply no not at all...I have my name on it to avoid other people taking my photo.

Smart buyers understand - dumb buyers dont need my business :P

HA.

You are worse than a dental visit to share info.

If I considered you were a lot freer with info sharing I would not ask.

Still you did manage to reply.
Pleasant change
