Default has anyone used garage sale (mac)

Hey, I am just about to download garage sale for mac. GarageSale - The all-in-one eBay tool for Mac OS X It looks to me like the perfect program for staying off of ebay site.

I am going to give it a go and let you know how it works.

I have been using Garage Sale for about 2 years.
I really like it and it works really well.
You have to keep aware though.......
It is NOT as safe as Auctiva.
eBay can still grab you IP when you upload items to your ebay accounts.
I have made copies of the software and place them in my NEW user accounts for each eBay account.
This keeps you IP safe.....

Hi Here We Go Again,

It's interesting that you say that you "have made copies of the software and place them in my NEW user accounts for each eBay account".

I'm trying to fathom why that is necessary.

It looks like you are saying that running just having one "Garage Sale" application in the Applications folder gave problems. Is that correct? And what were those problems?

If you have 1 copy on the Applications folder then you ALSO have many different eBay users names built up inside Garage Sale.
The first time you forget to change the default user to the correct one you are screwed.
You just uploaded auctions meant for account X into account A.

If you have a copy of the software in EACH computer user account then you only have 1 eBay user in Garage Sale.
This is 1000 times safer.
I learned this the hard way.

Thank you for that advice.

Do you know of any other Applications that one needs to do the same with?

That is the only Application that I am aware of that this should be done to.
Safari/Firefox keep the cookies & Flash Objects separated through the different computer user accounts.

Do I have to re-type each listing for each user account? Or is it just as safe to use 1 id at a time under the same user account? (just change the default id to avoid linking) I usally list one id at a time but my inventory is about 300 items deep.....I usually use auctiva but I need to re-type after each suspension....sigh...so i am looking for a faster method to get back up and running.

^^^^^^^
If you have a copy of the software in EACH computer user account then you only have 1 eBay user in each copy of Garage Sale.
This is 1000 times safer.
I learned this the hard way.

As for you auction/BIN listings....
Keep a MASTER LIST on your master computer user account.
Then EXPORT the list and name it "Account A"
Export it again and name it "Account B"
Export it again and name it "Account C"
And on and on and on....

Doing it this way keeps the internal Garage Sale names different.
This will help you from being linked.

When you do have a account go NARU then you can delete that user account and POOF the list and that COPY of the software is gone.
But you have a MASTER Garage Sale list living in your MASTER computer user account.

Does that make since?

Let me make you a little map done by computer user names.

MASTER COMPUTER ACCOUNT - install Garage Sale and make ALL your ads in a ready to publish format
DO NOT add any eBay user names to the Garage Sale program here.
Inside Garage Sale look under File>Export> Save as "Ebay Account 1"
Inside Garage Sale look under File>Export> Save as "Ebay Account 2"
Inside Garage Sale look under File>Export> Save as "Ebay Account 3"
Inside Garage Sale look under File>Export> Save as "Ebay Account 4"
Look into your Hard Drive > Applications Folder...
Find Garage Sale and make a Duplicate of it.
Go into your hard drive again
Go to Users>Shared... Drop the Duplicate Garage Sale into the Shared Folder. (It will make since later)
Drop ALL your exported item files into the Shared Folder
Open TextEdit and put your Garage Sale License and name used into a text file here.
Save the Text File as "Garage Sale License"
Place the "Garage Sale License" file into the "Shared" Folder
LOG OUT of MASTER COMPUTER ACCOUNT

Computer Account 1 - Log in
Open your Hard Drive
Go to Users>Shared now COPY (do not move) the Garage Sale Folder & PASTE it to your Desktop.
Grab the "Ebay Account 1" file that has your exported item list in it & drop it on the desktop
COPY (do not move) the "Garage Sale License" file with the activation code in it.
OPEN "Garage Sale License" and copy the code onto your clipboard
OPEN the Garage Sale Folder and start the Garage Sale Program
Paste the license code so that the program will run.
Import the "Ebay Account 1" file into Garage Sale
Use what ever method you use to get onto the internet so you can log into eBay under your Account 1 Name
Do the token thing so you can upload items to eBay
Now you can list items to your "eBay Account 1" SAFELY from your system.
KEEP IN MIND to still watch your IP address and the regular STEALTH things....
Enjoy eBay Account 1
LOG OUT of Account 1

Computer Account 2 - Log in
Open your Hard Drive
Go to Users>Shared now COPY (do not move) the Garage Sale Folder & PASTE it to your Desktop.
Grab the "Ebay Account 2" file that has your exported item list in it & drop it on the desktop
COPY (do not move) the "Garage Sale License" file with the activation code in it.
OPEN "Garage Sale License" and copy the code onto your clipboard
OPEN the Garage Sale Folder and start the Garage Sale Program
Paste the license code so that the program will run.
Import the "Ebay Account 2" file into Garage Sale
Use what ever method you use to get onto the internet so you can log into eBay under your Account 1 Name
Do the token thing so you can upload items to eBay
Now you can list items to your "eBay Account 2" SAFELY from your system.
KEEP IN MIND to still watch your IP address and the regular STEALTH things....
Enjoy eBay Account 2
LOG OUT of Account 2

Computer Account 3 - Log in
Get the idea now??????

Hope that helps a bit.
If you have any more problems make sure you followed the steps correctly.
If you are still having issues then please let me know.

Thanks man for the detailed info...I'll give it a try!

I use auctiva but I have 100's of auctions and it sucks to have to copy past that every time my account goes down.

HWGA -- on a Mac, does Fast User Switching work as well as logging in and out of your Mac user accounts? I'm speaking of the stealth aspect, of course.
