Why does ebay require a min reserve price of £50
 

Even though my listing starts at £0.99 I couldn't set a lower reserve price. eBay is requiring me to set a min of £50 (Which is unrealistic) as reserved price. It means my item will never get sold cause it is not worth that reserve price.

Is there anyway to set a lower reserve price?

It's not even worth having a reserve if the item is that low,of value, if it's something that is lower than £50 and you are expecting a specific price than List it as a BIN Listing

Bin take days to sell. It shift faster on auction and without reserve you get bids in the sub tenner when I am expecting on average £25.

That is just the trade off you take

Want guaranteed sales then use auction

Want a guaranteed price then use BIN

If your items are in demand, a smaller final sales price and easily make your mounds more money in velocity.

Why not start the auction at the lowest price you are willing to accept? You get 20 free listings like that a month.

Having a reserve turns people off bidding big time. Its a sure way to not sell your item.

I have now been using the reserve but given pple second chance option to buy the item. The logic here is item worth £70+ but realistically would not sell above £30. Without reserve smart guys see it a freebie option and wont even bid way over £5 for a luxury item. When I get a bidding war that ended at a reasonable price but short of the reserve, I just contact the highest bidder soon as the auction end to take it at their last price.

Another approach I adopted. If it does not sell in 3 days auction. I increase it to 5 or 7 days in the next listing

Seems like a waste of money for the reserve and a lot of effort then you have to wait for them to reply and coordinate the sale from there etc

Hi, auction listings seemed always sold better and sometimes the bidding went higher then the actual value of the item. As long as the pictures are real and crisp. And the description is as accurate as possible; you wont have to worry about a reserve price unless you are asking for a unrealistic price. Supply and demand, if it ain't in demand save the item for a later date because it will be one day or take the hit to free stock. your call.
