11 ebay/paypal accounts closed TODAY - why?
 

yes you read correctly, 11 of my accounts (amost all) closed today.

I can not understand why - i have been using stealth accounts for almost 2 years without any issues.

I have a vodafone pre-paid mobile broadband dongle which i use via my usb port, and each time i need a new i.p. i simply remove and re-insert it .

I have a different login for each account.

The only thing i can think of is each account uses gmail - and i dont always change i.p. when im reading emails between the accounts. Does ebay/paypal share info with gmail???

It's definitely a linking issue. Hard to say what it is without knowing all your practices.

I do not think that it has something to do with Gmail. I did so many times and never got problems.

Similar listings? Similar photos? Same products sold among diff accounts?

Do you have pictures turned off in Gmail? You can be linked by loading pictures in emails from Ebay or Paypal.

Did you keep a log of your IPs?

What steps had you taken with gmail? Images turned off etc?

You need to turn off images inside gmail. It releases beacons onto your machine / PC and you can be linked like that.

Gmail downloads email images through their image proxy, so your IP doesn't actually show up by any beacons. However, it's most definitely a good idea to disable automatic image loading just to be safe.

With that being said, I highly doubt the email images was the cause of your limitation.

How are you "isolating" these accounts? Virtual machine, different user accounts, portable browsers etc...?

Gmail will not link your accounts unless you are clicking on the links within the gmail. Sounds like you was using all the accounts within the same user and perhaps just using different browsers?

Can you confirm that you was using separate window user accounts for each stealth account?

Seems like we are pulling for info from the OP - as GB stated, need to outline your setup method - any old info used across the accounts? were you transferring money between accounts?

well sometimes there was money transferred between the accounts, but i dont see how this can link me.
I have a seperate PC for all my stealth accounts with a mobile broadband dongle. Seperate username for all accounts on windows XP .

2 of the accounts were completely fresh, less than a week old. Hadn't made any purchases or sales, or had any money transferred in or out. And they were linked!

So it makes me think it's some kind of IP issue.

Of course that can be a link....how many times we talking?

Ebay doesn't kill accounts on IP only, I'm guessing the sending money probably killed a few.

to really help, DEFINE your methods of account creation and types of activity between them.

I can assure you others have had accounts lost with linking (and the users had no concept of the chances happening).

We need to know to ensure others learn risks.

method of account creation:

1) buy sim card
2) buy pre-paid credit card
3) create new windows user account
4) create new gmail account
5) register sim card
6) register on ebay, use number on sim
7) register on paypal, use number on sim and pre-paid credit card
8) put something for sale, recieve phone verification code.

after this, i do not keep the sim card. do paypal / ebay still call at random times? perhaps this was an issue?

There's no mention in your setup of adding bank accounts. How were you cashing out?

You have mentioned sending money between the accounts. How many times did you do this and how was it sent? Family / friends?

Also, was the suspension / limitation on ebay, paypal or both? If Paypal, what does it say when you log in? Are there steps to resolve or is it a permanent limitation? If ebay, what was the suspension notice? Do either mention linked accounts?

i wasnt adding bank accounts at all, was just transferring money between accounts, and eventually to my real account if i wanted to cash out (this account is not limited)

i didnt send back and forwarth between 2 accounts, maybe once or twice, but rarely. sometimes as family / friends, sometimes i would 'buy' an ebay item from another account

some accounts are restricted by ebay - MC011

some accounts are paypal restricted - i get an email saying:

Our system detected unusual activity associated with your account. For more information, please refer to the limiting accounts section of our user agreement

I can withdraw my money within 180 days.

Some accounts have both the ebay and paypal restriction.

Obviously a link. NEVER EVER send money between your own accounts.

It's almost certain that the movement of money between the accounts and buying items from "yourself" has caused these links.

Your real account may well go down in the weeks ahead.

Sending money between accounts creates a link.

Buying on one eBay from another creates a link UNLESS the stealth methods are impeccable.

I know your system lasted 2 years. But no bank attached to PayPal raises risks.

If these accounts had similar IPs and time of creation, more links.

I will not go on...it was the basis of your account creations that tripped you up.

i am suprised - people send money to each other all the time. and people buy thingss all the time . vodafone is one of the biggest isp's in the country - so if i buy or sell something to another vodafone user, paypal consider's us linked and shuts us both down? crazy!

The reason you were linked via the "sending funds between accounts" was because you had NO bank accounts attached to any of those accounts.....

i see, does anyone know of a method in AU of linking a bank account that doesnt involve opening a real account in your name? Im not comfortable constantly opening and closing accounts with my bank...

Yes they will call you at random times especially if you owe them money, they will send automated calls reminding you to pay

Why would you need to be "constantly opening and closing" accounts? If your stealth methods are up to date you shouldn't be losing accounts. So ideally you would open accounts at 3, maybe 4, banks and keep them open to use for withdrawing money from your ecommerce sales channels.

You can send the odd payment between your accounts, I prefer the recieving account to be one I don't care about losing. But having many accounts and sending frequent payments between is asking for trouble

Thought i'd also chime in.

Binary is correct - GMAIL images goes through their own proxy servers to maintain your privacy.

Others are right in saying you were linked based on funneling funds between accounts.

I also feel you must have been selling something you shouldn't have for your ebay accounts to have also gone down.

I would advise you to spread out the way in which you operate your accounts, i.e. using different tethering networks, perhaps using virtual machines if you are going to use so many accounts etc.

So there was transferring of money as I had asked - ah well - seems like others have replied to this info OP. Best of luck moving forward - you can TRY for reinstatement but it will be tough because of the linking but don't waste too much time on the hope and efforts.

i wont bother with the re-instatement, just have to wait the 180 days to get my money out. Thanks for everyones advice, i will move on! :)

When you're bouncing money between accts always make it look like a purchase, you do the family/friends to many times ya piss PP off, they want their cut, now you know why your accts are gone
