Name Changing

My research so far has led me to believe there is no registration required to legally use a new name for yourself. You can just make one up and start using it. Am I right in thinking this?

ASSUMING A NEW NAME

Welcome to the forum. This is a strange question. Would you like to explain?:peace:

Sorry if the question seemed a bit strange. After reading the book I found it said you need to register a DBA to use a completely different name than your own. It appears as Australia has no such service. Is this needed to make your new name legal? What was the purpose of doing this?

Same in UK, no DBA type service as such, just limited companies, I sure you have them in OZ, so register a company and either trade as a business on ebay or name the company lets say Rose Bell, sounds like a name right, use it on ebay - all this is if you want to get away from your old (banned name) and trade using bank account, cards, etc in a real name, as such. What you cant do is submit ID in this name, if limited etc, as you cant obtain that, its a company , not a person...

So the purpose is to trade legit, instead of using the stealth methods of faux details, however as you can see, if your real details have been banned, the id thing is an issue and you would have to submit a stealth one, in any case....

It boils down to a question on whether or not you're an experience seller on eBay. If you're new to eBay, I would suggest making a stealth account as this will protect you real identity in case you make some mistake just like all new eBay seller will. It's hard to believe that anyone can hit on the "g-spot" on the first try especially eBay and PayPal is getting stricter nowadays. If I had come across this forum before I first started selling on eBay, I guess I am still able to keep my real identity. Well whatever it is, I wouldn't suggest using your real identity unless you are VERY SURE of what you are doing.

Alright back to the question, I'm not even sure what was the question about. Are you trying to say that you can get yourself a new identity without having to go through it in a legal way? If that is the case, I would suggest getting yourself a stealth account and start right away. After which when you're VERY SURE of what you are doing, then use your real identity. :amen:
