Paypal needs a Debit Card before purchasing
 

Hey all,

Just got my first stealth up and going, got some items listed, with some bids and some watchers, exciting. Went to buy a small item, just to burn for feedback, and Paypal is asking me to confirm a debit card before continuing.

It's a $1 item, I tried loading paypal with paypal balance, but still wants me to confirm a debit card, account is in my real name, I have a debit card, but not in the name of the account, and only my banned name and address.

I have a linked bank account with funds in it, I thought that was enough.

What can be done about this? Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes, you need a VCC. You can find one in the marketplace section here.

I'm in Australia, I wasn't aware that this service was available here. Let me check it out.

Hey, there is no way for paypal or anyone to know if the account is in your name. You can use any debit card as long as the postal code matches the accounts. If you dont have a debit card or credit card in the same postal code, then using a VCC is easiest.

I tried two VCC's and they did not work, saying card declined contact issuer, not sure if anyone has any other options? Do VCC's work in AU?

Also, when Paypal asks for the Debit Card, the ask for Name on Card etc. Can I just use the Stealth Name, and Stealth Address, as long as same postcode as real card?

did your billing zip code match the account zip code?

The VCC's were supplied and the supplier suggested I could use any details for them. So I just kept it the same as the stealth details.

The stealth address is in the same suburb as my address, so I have a card I could use, but of course I don't want to put my name in there. Will this work?

Yes, yankee has been trying to suggest that you use your real debit card with your stealth name.

@yankee, is that going to work though since street address is checked also?

In USA, yes. Not sure on AU. It has been four years since I tried an AU ebay/paypal. They only let you collect $1000 before requiring docs so I lost interest.
