Phone Numbers in AU

Hi there, was just wondering how people go about getting phone numbers in AU?
is it possible to forward multiple numbers to one phone number?
For instance, if I buy a $2.95 woolworths sim start pack and activate it, could I go to a website like sendmycall.com and forward multiple numbers to that one number for every account I want to open on ebay?
Does anyone recommend other websites or other ways in which I should go about this?
Any help would be appreciated

rosieposie 08-30-2010 08:58 PM

just getting this done myself sendmycall does 1 virtual phone number per line, cost about $12 per month, hope that helps

kozij 08-30-2010 09:23 PM

found a better voip service for a cheaper price and allows many numbers to specific regions :) PM if interested

daveo 09-01-2010 10:36 PM

Hey kozji,
i'm interested - does this mean you can verify your ebay account with a phone number instead of verifying your paypal account - or do you have to verify both??

kozij 09-01-2010 11:49 PM

Well the same number on the paypal would have to match ebay. I haven't received any calls yet from either, but I will continue to have an activate number just in case. Verified paypal through CC and ebay through linking paypal.

just a quickie question, how long would i need to activate number for and not quite positive about the linking ebay through paypal bit as i've always started with ebay account first - that was before learning stealth method which i have yet to start, will also send a PM about VOIP service

deathbychocolate 09-04-2010 05:45 PM

Whats the need for redirection? I just buy a vodafone sim card, activate it and put the details on my paypal and ebay sign up and have never been verified on any of the 30 accounts that I have. It seems they are happy enough to drop the 2 small deposits into my bank account and leave it at that. If they were to call however, Id just pop the specific sim card into my phone and wait. I did select no phone contact on my ebay account as well.

Landline or Mobile for Ebay AU

quick question, does anyone know if Ebay actually DOES require a landline number for verification or can you use a mobile number? I just got the dreaded mc049 email after having my account open 3 weeks. I had put a dodgy phone number down, I just made up a number similar to my old one.

Not sure what to do now. This has been my one sticking point, the credit card, address, new name, everything else has been fine.Hiu

Atlantica22z 09-25-2010 03:57 AM

land line only!..
dont even bother using mobile
it has to actually be a valid number(which you own) as their is a possibility they might call that number for verification

deathbychocolate 09-26-2010 02:42 AM

Why can't you use a mobile?

invader_adam 09-26-2010 05:23 AM

Mobile would be fine, you will just need to make sure you have a spare one for your e-bay account which is always on. You can pick up tons of cheap old school mobiles on e-bay i got 5 for $80.00 they just sit on the charger and yeah i get calls all the time from pay-pal. Sim cards only cost $3.00.

deathbychocolate 09-26-2010 08:29 AM

Yeah thats way cheaper than renting a landline etc.

Atlantica22z 09-27-2010 09:08 AM

hmm..
when i used a mobile number before my account got an immediate permanent ban..

but if you have successfuly used a mobile number then i guess it will be fine

Hey people,

I am in AU too and was wondering how to go about phone verification in AU. Buying different sim cards for each stealth a/c seems impossible for me solely due to the number of mobile phones you will need to carry around. Checked out Toll free forwarding, having the most basic option costs about $20/month. Also checked out VOIP choice website, and was just confused as what I had to do. If all fails, I will be willing to pay $20/month for each stealth a/c I create.

Anyone have more suggestions? Any sneaky ninja tactics that's not covered by stealth book?

Have a great one!

deathbychocolate 09-29-2010 09:11 AM

If you need to have a phone, vodafone sell one for $29 and like invader_adam said you just leave them at home on the charger. Wow, thats only $31 you've had to spend all up for phone calls from paypal or ebay as opposed to $240.00 per year for call forwarding, new lines etc. Why anyone would do it the more expensive way I don't understand.

stillconfused 09-30-2010 01:57 AM

I don't use mobiles but I do have one for EB and PP and emergencies. I have purchased a couple of second hand mobiles and 2 sim cards for future use. Question is, don't you have to purchase credit to actually get the phone to work?

kozij 09-30-2010 03:16 AM

I have 5 landline numbers all directed to my one mobile. Having 5 mobiles on charge all the time would annoy the s*** out of me. It costs about $22aud a month. I'm happy to pay that if the accounts will be safe and I'm always able to take a call.

rosieposie 09-30-2010 06:56 AM

@kozij - is that with faktortel? if so did you take up contract or by the month? thanks

^ correct, monthly, no cancellation fees means as accounts go down, numbers can be canceled.

down 09-30-2010 08:51 PM

Yeah, I agree with caryying 5 phones around, it's effing annoying. Farkotel sounds like a good option...I'm gonna go check it out now. Thanks for the heads up!

@Kozij, which plan did you go for? I see there's one for $0/month and then, $8.95/m and so on. Also, If I were to buy a Voip hardware, will it work with a laptop?

Cheers!

$0 a month for me with added numbers. I didnt even worry about voip, as i just diverted them all to my mobile through the control panel you have access to when you sign up.

I use a prepaid sim for my number with ebay, always have. I dont go through phone verification either. In the past I have opened the paypal account first, then an ebay account. once ebay is activated, go to your account, and there is a link to add paypal, no need for the phone verification..

This is the exact same steps I take: Ive never had to do phone verification. Having a mobile on charge all the time isn't as annoying as it sounds infact I don't even think about it because none of the phones have ever rung. Ive never had to put any credit on them and they can still take calls. $31 has been my only phone expense per account. I suppose everyone does things differently, so each to there own. Id rather have more money in my pocket than giving it to someone else and this seems to be the way to go if you intend on having 15+ accounts, plus if one goes down you only need to replace the $2 sim card, not the whole phone. Much Cheaper!

sneekygreen 10-14-2010 07:23 AM

Hey buddy you can use call fowarding services an trial at that so its free :) but during the trial time you may get rogue people calling you as the numbers are recycled but if you can put up with that you can def use them

After searching high and low, found out two things already pointed before:

1.Using Faktortel to get landline numbers forwarded to my mobile only costs $2.50-$3. So one mobile, multiple phonelines for minimum cost.

2. I also created my paypal first and then ebay, and then linked it together, and never had to go through phone verification, so might've been a waste of all the worry. But good to know the go afterall.

kozij 10-15-2010 02:07 AM

Just got a phone call from paypal when withdrawing from one of my accounts, luckily it was forwarded to my phone and the withdraw went through.
Another reason why you should keep lines active.

rosieposie 10-16-2010 05:46 AM

@kozij - how old was the account and was it your first withdraw, i was only going to keep new number for a month or 2!

kozij 10-16-2010 06:04 AM

Relatively new account, maybe a month or so, yes first withdrawal. I have other accounts that have never had a call, even on first withdrawal. I guess it's just luck of the draw really. I'm thinking of having my numbers active for at least the next few months, or up to a year. You never know with paypal, and it's better to be safe than sorry. No limits so far on many withdrawals, I want to keep it that way, even if it means having active numbers for a while.

Sorry I know this is an old thread but I have a few questions about Faktortel and it would mean a lot to me if you could kindly help me.

How exactly do I navigate the Faktortel website to obtain a landline number forwarded to my mobile? Would I need to sign up for a home phone plan? Or do I sign up for a DID number?

Thanks guys
