Please help, problem with unpaid ebay fees

Hi guys,
Basically I sold an item on ebay for around $2000 with no problems, item was sent and received within a week (to US). However now buyer is saying that the item is damaged and wants a refund. Now firstly, I dont understand how the item was damaged because it is of cloth material, there are no hard components to the item. I also had covered the item in bubble wrap (which I believed was unnecessay but I did it anyway) so I simply cannot see how the item is damaged. Seller has said one part of a threading is coming apart and requires a full refund, she has also escalated the case through to ebay. I have asked her to send me some pictures of the damage which she has refused, knowing ebay and their unjust resolution decisions, I know they will end up refunding her the full amount, which is really unfair. Just sounds like she saw the item, tried it, decided she didnt like it so wants a refund. I am feeling rather upset because I dont have that money anymore, I used it to help pay for a payment for my mortgage of my new house.
So, I've read some things online and have changed all details on my ebay account (stealth) and have closed my paypal account. Cancelled my cc and cancelled my bank account linked to those accounts.
Can anyone advise me of what will happen to me now?
Thank you so much for listening, I realise this is very long!!!!!

First welcome to the forum.

Sadly, you have to work with the buyer on this case. The steps you are taking to avoid the case settling in her favour...looks very very shady =(

If the account is not in your real name, you may come out ok but I can't support this behaviour - looks very bad =(

Yes, we all deal with returns - it sucks but you have to work it out with ebay, paypal, and the buyer. You can't run and hide just because you don't have the money to deal with it.

Communication is key. If you have spent the money already, well - that's bad IF you are held liable. Best way to avoid being liable is to pushback.

All the best but I cannot "aid and abate" this kind of action =(

Thank you! yes i know I know I dealt with it very badly, I think I just panicked as this has never happened to me before.

If it comes down to it, tell the buyer to send it back to you. If buyer doesn't track the item, you can say you never received it and cannot refund purchase until you receive it.
That's what I had to do when a buyer tried to return concert tickets to me (after the concert had already happened).
The buyer opened up a case in PayPal, I resolved it by forcing the buyer to return them.
Two days later the buyer closed out his case.
Of course concert tickets though are a far cry from something that's worth $2,000.
